I have always wondered whether there is demand for another station between Balham and Streatham Common on Tooting Bec Road. (see map). Its almost two miles from Balham to Streatham Common, and the railway passes through a dense and slightly remote area bordering Furzedown and middle parts of Streatham. A station here would be useful for relieving pressure on Tooting Bec station, as well as providing a more frequent service for Streatham users as oppossed to Streatham Hill or Streatham station. Names could include Streatham Park, Tooting Common, Furzedown, East Tooting, West Streatham etc.Untitled.png

There is a lot of parkland next to that location and not many houses which is probably why there isn't already a station. It is difficult to see who would go there rather than Streatham, Streatham Common or Streatham Hill which are all relatively close. It seems quite a long way from Tooting Bec and in the wrong direction for London from there.

Not my part of London, so I hesitate to comment, but while a station there would be theoretically possible, it would serve the relatively small proportion of residents for whom a route specifically to/via Victoria would be ideal.
Construction would be difficult, requiring the Down Local to be slewed to accommodate an island platform, and I wonder if the trains have capacity for the extra passengers (the line itself is at capacity)?
So: first, is there a big enough catchment to justify the expense? Second, is it operationally sensible?
