Finsbury Park to Kings Cross

I hold a Stevenage to London Terminals Season.

I'm sure that when I last looked a year or so ago the ticket was valid for use on the London Underground between Finsbury Park, King Cross, Moorgate, Highbury and Islington and Old Street.

However after many long searches I can find no literature available in the public domain as to whether this is true. Indeed my ticket appears to open some barriers at KX LU but not the new ones in the new ticket hall.

The only real reference to this I found was this , question 162, which was a response to an online "Meet the Directors" forum on FCC.

My theory is that this may have changed since Oyster PAYG become accepted across London on NR.

If anyone knows any more I'd be very grateful.

My understanding is that any ticket that has validity between Finsbury Pk and London Terminals is additionally valid between Kings Cross and Moorgate on LU, and that this is a long standing agreement that cannot be simply ripped up by TfL, LU or any TOC.

Thanks for that Yorkie. Is there anywhere that this is actually documented?

I am also certain that NR tickets used to be valid between Finsbury park and Kings Cross on the tube - I think that this was to do with the fact that you could use Oyster on National Rail between FPK and KGX prior to the start of this year.

My wife has used a Hatfield > London Terminals ticket to get to Old Street, via King's Cross and the Northern Line and the ticket won't work the gates, but staff let her through at KGX and OLD without any question.

This was a Sunday, when FCC doesn't even run trains to Moorgate - so I guess that's another reason for having the acceptance. Trains also stop around 2100-2200 in the week, when the tube still runs.

FCC weekend engineering publicity states the following which has applied for a while now:


Ticket Acceptance
List of Train and Bus Companies Accepting FCC Tickets
London Underground – FCC tickets have dual availability on LUL between West
Hampstead / Kentish Town and London Bridge / Elephant & Castle.
London Underground – FCC tickets have dual availability on LUL between Kings Cross and Finsbury Park (Piccadilly and Victoria lines).

London Buses – FCC tickets will be accepted on the following routes:
17 - St. Pancras / Kings Cross – London Bridge
45 - St. Pancras / Kings Cross – Blackfriars
63 - St. Pancras / Kings Cross – Elephant & Castle

This applies when there is engineering work, but I suspect the LUL bit applies daily.

So no advance bookings for a chunk of next weekend. Seems like its a growing demand. Think the service works well enough at the mo, but sometimes can be slow.
