According to Realtime Trains https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C74086/2020-03-10
my train goes from Platform 7M. I have looked at station maps and can only see A and B.
Arriving at Birmingham Moor Street (from London) at 08:02 and my train goes from Birmingham New Street at 08:30.
Final destination is Leeds but found splitting at Derby and Chesterfield offered a saving on the through Cross Country fare from Birmingham New Street.

7M is "Middle" of Platform 7. Usually a long train that is long enough that it takes up both the A and B ends of the platform.

Here's an odd one: The Avanti ex-Euston to New St service which arrives at 0745 on platform 4.

This train (a Pendolino) now travels right up to the B end of the station meaning the stairs nearest 1st class are actually now at that end, unless you walk all the way back and then up towards the Moor St exit. This train used to go straight back to Euston (staff rapidly cleaning up and passengers waiting to board at New St). They're not half as keen to do this recently.

I noticed 4C gets used shortly after for Shrewsbury services. When the above is an 11 coach train things must get quite tight down there.

A quick glance at Traksy shows that 4C is a separate bay platform.View attachment 73069
Yes, but on RTT today, platform 4 proper is not used again until 0830 when the Euston bound train leaves (presumably the one mentioned earlier). When I go home at night the pendolinos are always at the extreme A end of the platforms, regardless of platform number.
