A through ticket is priced as follows:

(I am assuming a return ticket; singles are only £3.05 less overall)

SVR - OFF-PEAK R CC
00700 - NOT LONDON

1 Adult @£ 31.40 = £ 31.40
1 Child @£ 9.05 = £ 9.05
__________
£ 40.45

Standard Class Return

As this is priced by the awful Cross Country, who have a policy of charging excessively high prices, it should be possible to reduce this!

Are you returning? If so, when?

When can you leave, and when must you arrive by? If you don't mind a slower journey, alternatives may be possible...

For a day return:

BSE - PBO £12.70
PBO - OKM £7.85
OKM - COR £13.25
Total = £33.80

All routed Any Permitted for 1 FAM + 1 CHFAM.

Cheaper splits may be possible (check Avantix Traveller, which can be purchased or found online using alternative means that I can't mention, or have a play with any of the ticket booking sites).

Is this for East Mids Red Dot Day?
If you know someone who can get the ticket for you, you only need to get to somewhere like Leicester.

Your best bet actually is to get to Peterborough and then get the bus to Corby. That's what I did at the last Corby RDD! It's a lot quicker, and it's cheaper. How old is the child though? I think they will be charged full fare at a younger age than the train, and you can't get a railcard discount.... it will still be cheaper though!

When I did it, it took me just over 1 hour to get to PBO, then I had to wait ages as the bus was late due to road 'improvement works' and was then delayed on the journey to Corby, meaning that I missed my intended train. Also most of the people on the bus are on free passes. People like us have to subsidise them. It was overpriced for a bus, but a lot cheaper than the train which goes an incredibly long way round.
