Arriva Trains Wales New 153 Seats

Does anyone have any pics or links to pics of the newly refurb Arriva Wales class 153 units.

Sorry to be a humbug but changing seats is not a refurb? To be honest 153's should be decommisioned as they are a pile of ****, they are too heavy, too slow, a nightmare to drive as they have no WSP and if the engine fails you are out of service, 150's should replace all 153 diagrams or 153's should be run in multiple

Is it just me, or are you finding it's rare to see an ATW 153 operating by itself recently? Certainly on mainline anyhow, always seems to be doubled up 153's or 153 & 150/2

I travel on a single 153 every day from llanelli to Swansea!

I dunno where he gets slow from maybee ATWs are but its obious he hasn't been on any of EMTs recently as the majority of them Ive been on have been pretty good movers as was on 326 last Saturday Beteen Stoke on Trent and Crewe and I say it was quite a mover a great improvment than when I was last on it.

Same goes for 153s elsewhere; they seem to be a "plus one" on the end of a Pacer or 158. A good way of adding extra capacity (apart from the lack of corridor connection when coupled to certain units)

I almost took a picture of two other single 153's I saw today - one was forming the 1316 Central Wales service - but I didn;t have my camera with me!

the seats are similiar to those in 150's yes. unsure as to which ones have been refurbed and no pictures sorry.

Thanks a lot. Appears the seat pattern may be changing. Refurbishment looks to be a high standard though- fantastic that class 158s will have PIS given the rural routes they operate! Rather confused the 158s and 175s will be refurbished around the same time, October 2010. Would have thought this would create stock issues.

Don't think much of the seat motif. Also looks very dark and dingy. Higher contrast grab handles would brighten it up I think.

It's not dark and dingy when you are on the train. I quite like it myself, although that may just be because it's not the old seats!

I don't like the Grey and the Blue from the picture looks quite Wales & West/Border esque

Would have been early 2008 with the ex-Central sets have their 3+2 seating removed.

The story was also in our local paper yesterday. Mrs G got very exited until I told her it was the refurbishment I found about on here, and told her about, a few months back!
