Has anyone any news of trainee driver positions becoming available anytime soon?

Some have just gone up internally. I haven't checked the FSR website to see if they're up there. Inverness and Perth, I believe.

I know that a couple of courses for internal applicants and external qualified drivers started last week. There is a trainee course starting in May, then another confirmed for June. A further trainee course is currently planned for August at the moment, but is not yet confirmed.
Cheers, H

Oldagefanclub when did you hear about the medical?

Was there any indication if they were processing based on proposed depots?

Good luck in hearing soon for a start date.

Got the letter on 29th April, medical on 7th May and the place is for Yoker even although I had originally been interviewed for Central.

Got my letter for my second medical on 15th April, Medical on 30th April and had a call from HR last Wednesday (5th May) to confirm that the medical results were OK and give me a start date of 14th June for Bathgate (Originally applied for Glasgow, but it's the same distance in the other direction...!).

Spoke to HR earlier about a couple of things and was told that my contract is due out in the post today!!!!!

Think that's around 21 months from initial application to start date...

:D :D :D

That's nice to hear hoyerman. No matter about depot anyway, you can move after 3 years to somewhere more suitable if you wish.

Thanks to all who assisted me directly via messages, PMs', or otherwise (and unknowingly) when I read posts about other positions - with all information and advice from the forum.

It's been a long slog, but at least I got there in the end!

Good luck to all who are still waiting!!

Cheers

Hi lengthman as far ad I heard from great source around ten days ago all courses are going ahead five in total July and august. Are you waiting to start? Give the course coordinator a call she's really helpful.

Hi Hiall,
Passed everything last october and then like some others received letter confirming courses for 2009 were cancelled. E-mailed co-ordinator beginning of May and was told courses were going ahead, everybody involved in each one would be contacted in due course.

The wait feels like forever, although I haven't been waiting as long as some others on here.

Do you know if the courses are done on a depot basis, or is it a mix from different areas? Are you on a course at present?

Cheers

My best advice for you is to phone the course coordinator in HR. She will give you all the answers you are looking for. It will only take two minutes and give you peace of mind. That's all you need to do.

Hey guys congrats to all who have completed selection, dont however be disheartened if you are on the reserve list im pretty sure you will be placed at some point in the future. As far as I can tell the course for October has been cancelled, all of the driver trainers are tied up with courses that are running and future training on the new class 380 train due to come into service.I know its not much of a concellation but most of the guys that have recently started have all been waiting for a year or more so dont give up hope. If you have passed the selections then you have the skills they want and need to pass the training which I have to say is relentless...

Hello all. This is my first time post. So here goes.  im 25 and in full time steady employment but for a few years now I've been interested in training to become a train driver with scotrail. Now though I'm extremely keen and can't get enough info on it. I've registered my details with scotrail but what I'm looking for here is some info on how often there are intakes and how many usually. I understand through reading some posts the selection process can be difficult but I accept that. It's all I've been thinking of for a few weeks now!! Lol. So any details from anyone on intakes, any requirements from myself I.e qualifications etc. And any future possible dates I would greatly appreciate. Thanks. Steve.

Its encouraging that the people delayed from October 2009 seem to be on courses now. I'm waiting for a medical for Inverness, but only had the tests in august so judging by the others, could be in for a bit of a wait.
