Cross Country seem to be one of the most disliked TOCs, given the feedback on the other thread. But what could realistically be done to improve things?
The franchise seems to be impossible to resolve:
1. The fares are very high (compared to comparable routes, meaning its often cheaper to split your ticket)
2. The trains are very busy (given their short length)
3. Yet the franchise is rumoured to be underperforming financially and...
4. Arriva don't find it economically viable to use their HSTs at full capacity.
How do you resolve this? Are there any sensible ways of resolving the impasse?
