Just a few notes after my short holiday(?
) in the Flookburgh area..
Can't remember certain days but did remember it was Monday when i managed park up opposite Lancaster bus station looking for Farmfoods, only noticed a Solo looking at me..
As for out and about, i didn't really venture that far in the car and so didn't see much, was in Cartmel, think it was Weds, at school kicking out time and noted 20456 (or something similar M-reg B10 anyway) outside the school there, and then a little later on the way back went diving for cover as i got to Flookburgh square when 20780 came towards me, i remember looking at it thinking 'whose it with now' and then realising it was in L&H livery as it went past..
didn't see much through the week, only glimpses of X35's in Grange, like i said, apart from nipping to Cartmel and going to the co-op in Grange, we didn't travel around much..
However on Friday, we went to Lakeside and caught the boat to Bowness, where i thought i spotted 17012 setting off up the hill, noted due to the fact I'm sure the last time i saw this bus, it was in 'normal livery' and i was operating a 125 on it, did positively identify 17016 on the 599 whilst i was there
there was a couple of other things as i drove home, 20128 knocking about (i go even further back with that one, driving a B6 Ladybridge in Bolton about 12 years ago!!)
14195 was around and then nearly crashing into the back of an Olympian, Think it was 14226 or 7 or something, I noted the black 'Leyland Olympian' badges on the offside rear corner of the engine cover anyway, It was as i was going back down the A590 on my way home, it had entered the road and then as traffic went around it, i was thinking about passing it, but it started slowing, for what i presume was the turning for the A6 which was coming up, as i was going that way i gradually slowed down to follow it around, only to realise it was actually doing a sharp right down a road (with a pub on the corner i think!) .. luckily, being the professional driver that i am (allegedly!!) i was far enough away to be able to brake and set off again, i couldn't go that fast anyway with a car full of family and a boot crammed with luggage...!!
I know i saw another B10 on the D3 but was busy looking at the destination after seeing a preview of the 'gucchi makeover' last week and have a flashback of an ex Manchester Trident struggling up a hill somewhere
