Retention tanks are no excuse for whatever is causing a ridiculous situation where there is one toilet on an 8(?) coach train.
Retention tanks are very much the reason. Take today for example. Shortage of cleaners at Norwich so no watering done (as is with late running) then less trips to Crown Point due to congestion & that's yet another set out of action. Staff will refuse to work them. Here's hoping for a better 2020.

Something i noted and forgot to mention - the 755s struggle to cope with luggage on the Stansted services. Interesting to note how full the incoming train from.Norwich gets at Cambridge with Stansted Pax. But the lack of luggage racks near the doors.means pax lugging bigger cases and putting them on seats as they are roo big to go on the shelf above.

What is the problem with the toilets on the Mk3 sets. They have worked for 30 years & suddenly many don't. Why? Not that much can go wrong as they are simple devices.

Don’t forget that they are now fitted with retention tanks.

Retention tanks are no excuse for whatever is causing a ridiculous situation where there is one toilet on an 8(?) coach train.

You claimed they had worked for 30 years. I gave you a change that has been made that may explain why they don’t now. Nowhere did I say it was acceptable.

Sorry I did not mean to imply that you thought the installation of retention tanks was an acceptable excuse for the problems.

Separately I do not think that a shortage of cleaners is a good excuse either. Managers should be managing and solving issues..

It's not a shortage of cleaners, it's a shortage of space on Crown Point depot is my understanding.

Probably because it was either before abellio won the current franchise, or that it was expected 720's would have replaced them by the deadline.

I am hearing a sole 156 remains on Greater Anglia and a sole 170. Strange because i swear i saw a 2nd 156 out...
Felixstowe services seem to be 755s today. Two of three Cambridge Ipswich services today are 755s. The third appears to be a 156. Told that a single 755/3 has been accepted into service.

Things starting to look a lot better today for the rural and regional services.

Why were PRM modifications not done when the Class 317’s were refurbished?

Cus GA are rubbish. In August 2016 they signed up to doing PRM mods on 27x317. They also agreed to fit SDO on 27x317 n SDO beacons at 96 platforms so 12 car 317s could operate. Like all the other stuff they promised they just never delivered.

Please bear in mind that I am an 'outlander' these days!
Looking at what is running, if you saw a 156 on Ips-Camb, the Marks Tey-Sudbury is also probably a 156 because nothing has come in from further than Colchester. So that is 2.
One diagram of Ips-Peterborough is also running which could be another 156 or the 170?
As of now the 19.50 2L83 Peterborough-Colchester is still in RTT but there is no apparent uncancelled inward pathing for a unit to do that trip.

All that said, anyone wanting the great final GA 156 'experience' should not delay too long .....

Edit: Timing of 2L83 retrospectively corrected.

Somewhat inevitably 2L83 now shown as cancelled in RTT.
[19.50 departure not as originally quoted]

2 of 3 diagrams on IPS-CBG were 755s. IPS-FLX was 755332, IPS-LWT was a combination of 2x 156, 1x 170 and 755422 which swapped with 755402 to work 2D93

The final return trip IPS-PBO-IPS-COL of the 'working' diagram is now shown as cancelled on the GA website 'This is due to signalling problems'. Presumably the 156 has either expired or been purloined for another route? :(

This is a classic case of be careful what you wish for. People complained about toilets that dump on the track. The alternative is, quite often, no toilet at all.

On another note, many people complained that the reliability of the hauled sets has gone downhill. In fact they are the same as a year ago.

I have only 1 156 to have gone so far with 402/7/12/16-19 & 22 remaining until 30/12.

GA said yesterday, they have 3 x 156, so in reality they have 6?

seems.. diagrams 422 on the Sudbury, 407 Cambridge, 409, Lowestoft, 412 gone, 416 gone, 419 Low-Ips

I think though am open to correction that 156409/412/416 are at Derby Etches Park depot undergoing repairs etc to enter traffic imminently with EMR - 412 only arrived yesterday and 409/416 have been there weeks having significant problems repaired.

A good few of them have issues and are poor performers with bad acceleration and can't reach near top speed. hopefully EMR will give them a lot more TLC than they've had at Crown Point in the last number of months

I believe 412 is still with GA, saw it in the passing loop at NWA yesterday evening working the 1852 to Norwich from Sheringham.

Just checked Gemini, it's a CP but not allocated to any working at all today.

It isn't, to be certain I've just re-watched the video on Facebook of it trundling through Long Eaton yesterday afternoon and there's some photos of it waiting to depart CP with the branding scrubbed off too.

Just saying, today it is languishing in the Point, not allocated to any workings

It's in the depot at Etches Park unless it's developed powers of teleportation! :p

Must have been another 156. I did however certainly see 412 on the point looking ready for a move around 0833 from the NRW-SSD yesterday so that would tie with the Gemini record for it.
