Any info on what will happen to this set? It would be a shame if it just went to scrap. Perhaps in the short term it will move to East Midlands and they'll keep it in these colours?
It will be stored at Ely last I heard.Any info on what will happen to this set? It would be a shame if it just went to scrap. Perhaps in the short term it will move to East Midlands and they'll keep it in these colours?
I've said it already: this set is not going to EMR.Any info on what will happen to this set? It would be a shame if it just went to scrap. Perhaps in the short term it will move to East Midlands and they'll keep it in these colours?
Sadly most trains get a last farewell before going for scrap. To be fair though, I doubt any train from the 21st century will get such a send off.I thought LSL we’re having this one?
How much money can the railway waste?
Lovely as it is to see this HST in its original guise the very notion that it will now go to Ely and no doubt only leave when the axe man is ready for it is wasteful in the extreme.
I'm sure there will be a similar send off for the IETs, I'm sure by then they will have had a refurb with seats that are fit for humans!Sadly most trains get a last farewell before going for scrap. To be fair though, I doubt any train from the 21st century will get such a send off.
Who knows, maybe another preservation group will be formed and take it on?

The fact that it's going into 'warm storage' seems to imply it might still have a future.
The LSL thing has just been an enthusiast rumour. There has never been any word on it happening from a reliable source.I thought LSL we’re having this one?

So, can anyone explain what the point of 'warm storage' is (as opposed to 'cold storage')? Is it basically keeping them in running order so they can go to be scrapped under their own power?not really. All the ones at Papworth are as far as I’m aware in warm storage and most will never work again unfortunately.
Is there any other option available? The sidings they are in seem to be the only free space whilst they await their fate. So, can anyone explain what the point of 'warm storage' is (as opposed to 'cold storage')? The scrapyard will be ready, there are lots of these trains and they are old, we can't keep all of them.Is there any other option available? The sidings they are in seem to be the only free space whilst they await their fate.
The scrapyard must already be busy if lots are just warm stored. The scrapyard will be ready, there are lots of these trains and they are old, we can't keep all of them.
It's Porterbrook - they never scrap anything. The scrapyard must already be busy if lots are just warm stored.
What else have Porterbrook owned that should've been scrapped? It's Porterbrook - they never scrap anything.
If it was Eversholt or Angel these sets would've gone long ago.

The 319s shouldn't be long term and the 769 shouldn't exist in my opinion, the 769 may match a 150 for performance but they are both old trains, thameslink replaced them for a reason. Are you suggesting that they should have sent the 319s for scrap without trying to seek to reuse them?
Porterbrook sent a lot of Mark 1 EMUs for scrap.
thameslink replaced them for a reason.
yes
Does anyone know what will happen to it next?
It's not heading to warm storage for it to then go on to scrap...It's being stored at Ely, before it probably heads to scrap
Perhaps the idea of HST parcels trains is still offering a glimmer of hope for these sets in warm storage?
Sadly, you are right. Regardless of what happens, they 125 will always have its place in history.I think we need to stop trying to find a use for trains which are now obsolete, increasingly unreliable and non-compliant with modern legislation.
They've had their day.

I think it should be used for Railtour excursions by some touring company
