Connection advice

Can someone advise me on connection rights with different tickets please?, have booked separate tickets between Plymouth and Sheffield as wanted first class (GWR Pullman breakfast etc) for the Plymouth - reading leg on gwr, and not on reading-sheffield leg.

Do i still have the same rights if my train from Plymouth is late and i miss the connection ? (i have 15 minutes) as if it was a through ticket ?,

Yes, your rights are still the same. COndition 14 of the National Rail Conditions of Carriage allows a combination of tickets to be used to make a journey.

Do note that a minority of rail staff, as well as some ticket selling websites, claim this is not the case but they are incorrect.

Absolutely, yes.

Not only is this contractually correct, but it's explicitly clarified in the "Advance Fare FAQs" page in the rail industry's internal KnowledgeBase (iKB).

Yes a small number do try it on. If the train company does not resolve any such matter to your satisfaction there is always the Rail Ombudsman.

Also if anyone has booked with an accredited ticket splitting site you would also have the backup of the retailer, though I'd be very surprised if it got that far, as you'd have a through itinerary to show to any staff who were in any doubt that it was a through itinerary.

It’s 5 minutes unless indicated otherwise in the Great Britain Passenger Timetable (which these days is only available via download from the Network Rail website).

Accredited booking sites giving an itinerary will always adhere to the minimum interchange times.

Thanks everyone!, put mind at rest, looking forward to doing the pullman service. havent dont GWR in years. Last did it when they had traveling chef and before that the restaurant car.
I know no HST any more so wont be quite the same but should still be very good!, doing Lunch on the 13.04 going there (from london) and 06:54 coming back for breakfast service

Sounds like the opening post refers to the outward journey in that case.

I see Trainsplit comes up with a total fare of £87.80 using this Thursday as an example. If you did your own splits and don't already have an itinerary for the through journey, I'd go onto NRE to produce one, which you can use as evidence that it is a valid itinerary, in case of a dispute.

If you do miss the 0945, you'd be entitled to claim Delay Repay from GWR for the journey through to Sheffield.

I don't think the connection times feature in the eNRT any longer. (I couldn't find any just now on a quick glance.)

Yes it does! See attached table as an example where Fenchurch Street is shown as 7 minutes, Liverpool Street 15 and Tilbury Town 3. What I don't think is in there any longer is the minimum interchange times when crossing London.
