Anyone know what's going on with Avanti's Advance fares?

There are many reports of people finding journeys that are showing as available with Advance fares, but then there are "no reservations available"!

For example 1453 Birmingham International to Glasgow on 17th December in 1st class, but there are numerous other examples reported.

Maybe the wheelchair spaces & companion seats?

Is this for tickets on Avanti trains regardless of where they are booked, or tickets booked through Avanti's website/app?

Apparently from other forums and also booking myself on Avanti to there seems no option for seat reservations strange.
I have booked 5 tickets with them with no option of reserving my seat

That's not the issue; the train mentioned by yorkie is a double Voyager and there are plenty of seats still available in 1st Class (although it is quite full).

Looks like a free for all on the train first come gets the best seat
No, there's plenty of seats already reserved on the train. It looks some specific problem with making new seat reservations, maybe with certain ticket types.

Probably pre booked via the old Virgin site for advance ticket purchases Avanti did state that they hadn't any plans to introduce a seating plan at this time which is quite an anomaly
