Although I generally prefer not to obsess over liveries when there are more important issues under discussion, I do think that some TOCs' liveries would benefit from at least a refresh, if not a completely new livery.

I will kick things off with Southeastern. The reason I think their livery could do with a refresh is that there is no consistency, with Javelins in two-tone blue, Networkers in white and blue, and the Electrostars in a mixture of white and yellow & two-tone blue.

Any proposals for a new livery for SE, along with any other TOC, are welcome for discussion here.

I'd like to see a brighter and more exciting version of GWR's livery, but that's more because I loathe it.

I think TfW should be making better progress getting their livery on their fleet, ATW has been gone for over a year yet the vast majority of TfW trains still carry ATW colours. On the other hand I'm not too bothered, red and white is an overused colour scheme in my opinion.

Perhaps Southern could do with a refresh? How long have they had that livery for? Feels like forever, I'm too young to remember anything before it.

The orginal colours of the "South Central" franchise that Southern still uses, has been around since at least 2003-perhaps even 2002. I remember reading Connex had lost the franchise on Ceefax!

Wow. I think it's time we had a refresh, not that I dislike Southern's current livery. I would have said the same for the silver variation of Virgin Trains' livery, but Avanti will take care of that.

I'm happy with different fleets wearing different liveries if it indicates different service groups i.e. High-Speed, Mainline and Metro - much as SWT did with their white, blue and red liveries.

There are 'worse' examples:
  • Northern still has trains in the old franchise's livery and it's been three-and-a-half years since the new franchise started.
  • Great Northern's 387s are basically in a Southern livery (with Southern interiors too) even though they've only ever worked on Thameslink and Great Northern routes since they were built in 2014-2015.

London Underground has had the same livery for about 30 years now!

I like the Southern livery, but GoVia went one better with the London Midland livery, which I thought looked really good on the 350s.

I'm not actually a huge fan of London Midland's livery although I do prefer it to the LNWR one.

I don't really count the Underground as a TOC to be honest, does it even qualify as one? Even so, it's so iconic I think people would be reluctant to change it.

If you mean the Electrostar Class 376's then yes, they are, in my opinion long overdue for repaint/relivery. Otherwise, white with blue doors for metro stock and two tone blue for main line stock is consistent enough

Southern is fine apart from the text on their logo, the text needs altering to a different font and maybe a slightly lighter shade of yellow, like the shade used on the front of most trains?

The Southeastern Class 376 livery looks very dated, but I still think the white/blue livery used on Networkers is one of the best on the network (especially when it was on a 375 - that was amazing). SE's dark blue image is probably past its sell-by date by now, so I think it needs a rethink to be more interesting. How about trying something nobody's really tried before to really stand out?

It's time to delve into pink. :D

A simple and uniform livery is all that is required.

In other words, a simple and uniform branding eg Scotrail with small operated by First, Abellio, Amtrak signs on the train doors then?

Can’t see any issue with that.
