Can anybody confirm? Was 142044 the first 142 to receive a digital blind? Long before the MerseyRail refurbs. Possibly mid 90s? Thanks in advance.

I think you're thinking of 142081 when it was transferred to Wales they removed it and replaced it with a standard roller blind, however it's easily identifyable as the aperture is centrally placed as opposed to being slightly offset to the right as on the rest

They can't win can they? If Northern keep them they get shouted at for keeping clapped out old trains in service but if they withdraw them they get shouted at for disposing of extra capacity!

I 100% agree with you on this, as much as I hate Pacers they should be kept for a while longer than they planned to keep them for so Northern have enough trains to run their services

It’s a bit of a no brainer , promises about new stock have been broken, but people still need to get to work etc ... so please Northern do whatever you need to do .

oh no, meant another move for the pacers. believe its for scrap but there is a small chance it could be for storage, depends if FL would allow them to be stored in there yard

Some are still running this morning, here's 142030 waiting at the signal at Hartlepool on the 2W15 Hunthorpe to Hexham run at 9.15 in this morning's low sunshine. Only one platform is used at Hartlepool, hence it's waiting for the Grand Central 180 to clear the section on its way to Kings Cross.
