The 25 in London has to be up there, in duration if not distance. It's still 90 minutes in the peaks even after the route was shortened.

There are longer routes in London duration wise. The 53, for instance, is timed at 120 minutes in the a.m. peak from Plumstead Station to its (recently truncated) terminus at Lower Marsh.

Similarly the 55 (Oxford Circus -Walthamstow) takes 120 mins in the evening peak.

Sadly, so many routes in London have been truncated over the years that whilst there are quite a few in the 90-105 minute bracket, there are only a handful that take longer.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
For a route within the Glasgow City Council area, I would suggest the Firstbus 3.

This runs between Drumchapel station and Govan Cross via Great Western Road, Lincoln Avenue, Dumbarton Road, Kelvingrove Park, Charing Cross station, Glasgow Central station, Bridge Street underground, Shawlands Cross, Nether Auldhouse Road, Pollokshaws, Barrhead Road, Pollok Centre/Silverburn, Crookston Road, Paisley Road West, Cardonald, Kingsland Road, Berryknowes Road, and Shieldhall Roundabout.

The running time according to the timetable is around 2 hours and 10 minutes to do the full route end to end.

Does the squarepeg number 9 in leeds qualify (part of old ring road service). At sometimes of day the service runs from pudsey to white rose centre via horsforth & seacroft taking about 2 1/4 hours end to end. No one would do that though as first run a 9 from horsforth to white rose via pudsey. From pudsey to white rose this takes 40 mins peak 20 mins off peak

Its amazing that a straightforward route as is the 55, Oxford Circus to Walthamstow is timed at 120 minutes in the peak poor traffic conditions at any given time will increase on that

As far as I can ascertain, the longest timetabled journey on a TfL route is 125 minutes on the 55 on the 15.38 journey from Oxford Circus, which arrives at Walthamstow Central at 17.43. Until recently, some 53 journeys from Plumstead Station to Whitehall, Horse Guards would have taken slightly longer.

To be honest, the 724 is really an inter urban service that goes through some rural bits around Harlow and Hertford. Whilst it does grind a bit through Welwyn and St Albans, there are also some leafy bits round Maple Cross.
St Albans is a city in itself too and most places the route serves are technically not London anyway so you're not wrong!

Until 2017-ish, there was the 22 from Bolton to Stockport, which took a good couple of tedious hours to complete.

Come to think of it, there was also the 278 until earlier this year. That took the 5 mile journey from Reddish to Manchester on a convoluted route via Wythenshawe, taking about 2.5 hours.

It was a hospital bus, really, and has been partly replaced by the 179, which now terminates in Wythenshawe. Not sure if the second part into Manchester has been replaced, though.

I believe now, the longest in Greater Manchester is GNW 41 from Sale to Middleton, as I've mentioned upthread. That's about 2 hours as well if I'm not mistaken; how long is it distance-wise?

Indeed the 11A/C strays into Sandwell briefly at Bearwood.

Yes the 11A/11C does now run along the Bearwood Road in the Borough of Sandwell, but in Birmingham Corporation days, it was not allowed into Midland Red territory so ran via Barnsley Road. To run through a shopping area made a lot more sense than to run round the back streets of that major shopping area but it was always an anomaly caused by the 1914 agreement between the Corporation and Midland Red. I remember the 82 along the Bearwood Road being operated by BCT with an occasional Midland Red at weekends but that was always technically a joint service.

Near a bunch of sheds that aren't 66s.
Brighton & Hove route 5B from Hangleton to Sussex University takes up to 98 minutes (1650 from Sussex University) during the peak and that remains fully within Brighton & Hove City Council. Easily with traffic this journey could take considerably more.

According to AA routeplanner the 22 was around 23 miles

Manchester also had the 32 Wigan-Manchester at around 19 miles, could take 2 hours in the peaks, 32 was cut back when the Leigh Guided Busway was opened, to Wardley, A580 Park and Ride, then withdrawn a couple of years ago

The route is not quite entirely within the city council boundary. The flyover at Falmer is in East Sussex, as is the only means of gaining the access road (Village Way) to Brighton University.

Is Brighton in West Sussex then?
Brighton is part of the ceremonial county of East Sussex, but not part of the administrative county of East Sussex.

The City of Brighton & Hove is a unitary authority and therefore a separate council area to that administered East Sussex County Council.
