Northern Pacer Withdrawals - Info?

I agree also in the last year or so Northern have received some ex Scotrail 170's, ex GWR 150s, electrification of the Blackpool line too so saved DMUs there so even without Class 195s more capacity has arrived but no Pacers were withdrawn.

Just photted this heading through Northallerton as 91101 departed on 1S08. 142064 was leading - anyone know what the other two are?

EDIT: just seen the above post - thanks. Saw them again passing York 142064/052/037 is the running order.

All very confusing.
Based on 507021s excellent list plus recent info on here my best guess is:-
62 142s in use with 32 at NH and 30 at HT.
17 142s withdrawn with 1 at NH, 10 at HT and 6 at Worksop.
Also. Are the 2 144s that went from NL to HT a while back still there?

Its difficult to distinguish between those actually withdrawn and those withdrawn in "warmstore" with intermittent use.
I have 9 withdrawn left at HT 142 09, 15, 30, 38, 50, 66, 88, 93, 96.
Also 005 and possibly 044 are at NH.

My understanding is that they're up there to free up space at Neville Hill, with some NE drivers learning them for ECS only. The plan (I think) was that they'd rotate units out daily with ECS moves up and down the ECML, but I've not heard that such has happened.

I'd like to see the back of 38, suffered its rubbish seats and no heat last night on the way home from work.
I'm going to enjoy despising individual Pacers now that the herd is thinning out ...... I'lI call it personal growth!

Thanks. I assume it's the Sheffield area training units being swapped and South means new units Edge hill to Worksop and North means Worksop to Newton Heath.

yesterday at Worksop.
037 was required so pleased about that. the two Freightliner guys took the sets to the sidings then took a taxi back to Ferrybridge. I then enjoyed a couple of pints in the Mallard bar, very busy it was to.

On Friday 142095 was with 142055 working Manchester to Rose Hill Marple. I didn't see the other two.

I'm inclined to agree. I spent Friday and Saturday travelling around Northern and it wasn't hard to find Pacers at all. They even turn out on the class 1 trains from Leeds to Sheffield and on to Lincoln/Nottingham. I think there are nine sets on that route, at least three were Pacers on Friday, 142031, 142071 and 144001. The Nottingham runs were all turning round at Chesterfield. On Saturday there were at least two on Leeds to Southport. I travelled across to Manchester on 142019, it was standing room only from Brighouse all the way to Victoria. 142036 was running solo on a Southport to Blackburn diagram. It had to run non stop from Wigan to Salford Crescent because it was so full. If they are so desperate for units then they should not be withdrawing any more until all Pacers can run as pairs.

142015 is out of service at Heaton. It last worked 1144 Saltburn to Bishop Auckland which was defective at Allens West and taken out of service at Darlington 17-11-19.
142079 is still active; currently at Neville Hill; not allocated and been working today.
142055 in still active; currently at Southport.

In keeping with your case I fail to see how a large scale withdrawal will happen . The Pacers in Sheffield seem more in evidence than ever , regularly to be found on services to Hull , Leeds , Gainsborough Central and Adwick . Over the last few weeks Pacers I haven’t seen before have started to appear , probably cascaded from the North West where they have lots of new stock running around unlike Sheffield which has none except the training runs.

I would guess at the three in store. They are 009/15 and 50. But the three that went on Sunday morning were in service on Saturday night. On that basis then it could be any of the units in service in the North East today. Take your pick.. 142 014/20/32/8/78 or 91?

I wonder why they only send them in threes. I believe you can couple more I seem to remember 4.
