Wigan Stations to Metrolink Zone H

Can anyone advise the price of an undiscounted off peak day return from Wigan Wallgate / Wigan North Western station(s) to/from stations on the Manchester Metrolink Eccles Line?

A Wigan Wallgate-Metrolink Zone H chea day return costs £4.70. The outward portion is valid on trains scheduled to depart after 09:30, the return portion is unrestricted. Strangely, this ticket would be issued from Wigan Wallgate rather than Wigan Stations, so would not be valid from Wigan North Western. There is no equivalent fare from Wigan North Western. Therefore, if you wish to travel from/to North Western, I would advise a ticket from Pemberton at the same price.

No ticket from wigan northwestern as manchester trains do not go from there, wallgate only

There is a small number of trains from North Western to Manchester, a couple of Northern services out of the bays there and one or two Glasgow/Edinburgh-Manchester services go that way.

There are a few Northern services from Manchester Victoria to Wigan North Western each day (the ones that stop at Clifton).

It is the 0416 from Manchester Picc to Blackpool North, which starts back from the airport. It is booked to set down only at Bolton and Preston and runs via Wigan North Western. It runs Mon - Fri aswell, but can sometimes be diverted to run via Chorley.

The annoying thing about that service is there is a demand for that service to stop at Wigan NW. I know quite a few people that have paid the £70 taxi because the nightbus is to early and the first train (Kirkby) train is an all stops train which many a person wouldnt want to catch. is there any way of getting that train to stop at Wigan as it would be very useful for People who freuent manchester in the Wigan area myself included.

I very much doubt it, as it is often diverted via Chorley due to engineering work and I would have thought that Wigan NW station may still be locked and bolted?

Anybody who pays a £70 taxi fare to avoid a stopping train needs their head sorting out IMO

£70 Manchester-Wigan is rightish... Many people won't even catch Atherton trains in wigan as they are slower than Bolton ones so Kirkbys are classed as the devil.

Kirkby is all stop Atherton Line
Athertyons are Most stops Atherton line
Boltons are Quicker and Fast services. That is why people pay the taxi's as Via atherton is so slow.

Watch out for Low Flying Bricks in Kirkby 175001 i should be on the line on Monday planning a few nights in Spain next week so need to get to the airport.

Wish these Yorkshire Liveryied 150's would leave me alone on the line get nothing but them recently.
