Cambridge lifts and Greater Anglia non-response

There's been an announcement on the Greater Anglia website, the National Rail site, and doubtless loads of other places (apps, other sites) that use their data feeds, saying that:

"The lifts are currently out of order between Platforms 2 & 3 and Overbridge until further notice at Cambridge station."

Last Weds I emailed GA (which manages CBG) pointing out that there is no such lift, so either the platform numbers are wrong or they've attached the message to the wrong station.

Apart from the normal auto-reply... absolutely zilch. The erroneous statement (which is critical for the disabled, the less mobile, or those with heavy luggage) remains in place.

What next? I don't have Twitter or Facebook accounts, before you suggest DM or whatever.

None of this impacts on me personally, but I'm thinking of others :(

It relates to Cambridge North, it's on the pages for both stations. National Rail also has the same duplicate information.

I sent a follow-up to GA on Weds morning. This time I did at least receive a response from a human, saying she'd passed the correspondence on to the station manager. But almost 48 hrs later, no change...

Not sure what good a Station Manager would do, it would need to be the information team at GA.

My Daughter works at Cambridge North, and the situation is Greater Anglia are very much aware of the lifts not working and indeed have raised this with the lift company and apparently the part is proving particularly hard to obtain. Which I understand to be a decoder.

And indeed the engineer advised station staff that lifts could be put into use however it would be inevitable that a failure would occur within "hours". So the more logical solution is to leave the lifts out of use.

She has said staff and Greater Anglia are very much as frustrated but if the part is not available what is the alternative

Can't believe its obsolence already. The station is barely three years old (if that).

From my experience, lifts all over the rail network go out of use for prolonged periods (>5 days) "awaiting parts". Not sure its the full story.

The lifts at Cambridge North do seem to have regular periods out of operation, in my observation.

Thanks for the comments - especially the detail from berwicksfinest - but the underlying point in my original post is that GA and NRE and tools using their data are pumping out information saying that the lift problem is at the main Cambridge station. Which it isn't. (And apologies to Cambridge North users - who seem, generally, to be great advocates for their newish station - for my referring to the next station south as the "main" one!)
