Hi all, hoping someone can help.
I was on a LNER train, 1N17 Kings Cross - Newcastle, on the 22nd which was delayed by 100 minutes due to there being a trespasser on track near Durham.
Ticket was an Off Peak return ticket from Doncaster to Newcastle, no restrictions on it, bought with my Disabled Persons Railcard. I assumed therefore that I could break my journey at York, so I did. I'd gotten a CrossCountry as far as York (1E36 ex. Southampton Central) from Doncaster, as that came in before the LNER and there were no restrictions on the ticket.
I knew I'd have to change trains at this point - as the short break in York wouldn't be enough to get out, get a coffee, and get back (looking back on it though, I might have made it with a 6 minute wait!) so I got on the LNER train once the coffee had been bought, knowing I'd be a little later into Newcastle but that was OK.
Then comes the big delay at Durham, just after a smaller delay at Northallerton (although strictly speaking, I'd only been delayed by 3 minutes due to the train change, and that was on me), and we were stuck outside Durham for 75 mins or so. Eventually we made it into Newcastle 100m late.
I'm just wondering how much Delay Repay I'm entitled to here - since I was only on the affected train from York, but my ticket was valid from Doncaster. I don't know if I would claim for the full ticket journey, or just from York since that's where I was on from.
I know there's probably a simple answer to this but I don't want to risk getting it wrong then possibly being done for fraud is all!
Thanks in advance.
