Bloody hell, the BBC should have put this up as "Breaking News"

They did on my PC, but only because I have got the BBC news alerts installed on my PC & set to show new stories relating to Beds Herts & Bucks.

The clip on the website is about half the length that showed on the Look East programme this evening on BBC1.

They say that there is another feature tomorrow's programme on the rebuilding plans.

By the speed at which the BBC has found out about the TL project, it will probably be about the class 377 trains FCC has 'just' got.

Speaking of which, 377504 (ones of the ones that had to go back to be 'finished') should now be back down south - at Selhurst at the moment to be specific.

In couple of days and bar a couple of Vinyls the full fleet will be available - and this time none have to bugger off to be put right - albeit 1 whole year late Hurrah!

I think that the clip currently on the website is actually the one that will be shown tonight, as the one in the programme yesterday was different. That one seemed to be concentrating on the recent driver/rolling stock issues & had lots of comments from passengers & MPs etc.

Yesterday's clip can be seen in the programme - it starts around 17 minutes 50.

I think the link must show the most recent weekday Look East when I saw it just now it showed exactly the same clip as that posted by Edvid on Thursday. I liked the introduction from the studio though "and when its completed it will link Bedford and Luton with London and the South Coast" (with Bedford, Luton, London and Brighton joined by a blue line on an accompanying map). So, then, that means I'll be able to travel all the way from Harpenden to London and even Brighton on the same train!!

Not as good though as the lady Three Counties sent to Bedford during the drivers dispute to see how long it took her to get back to Luton. She reported that she was freezing col;d and there was no train south from Bedford for half and hour although there were trains to places to the north, like Sheffield and Rochester , which were no good to her. Suggest she takes an atlas if not a timetable if she goes again!!

Won't they need to build some sort of magical tunnel through the 'core' of London? Oh, that must be what they're building right now.

This TL project is really going to be something when it's done! I am so grateful to the BBC for making me aware of this service coming in the future.

It will never happen, I mean maybe they should have done something like this last century. Maybe they could have used 2000 in the title and as it links the north and south and goes under the Thames it could be called "2000linkThames", just a thought or am I being backwards!

Well said! The '2000' moniker wasn't dropped until 2002 IMO, so the DafT/SRA, like the BBC, was slow to realise that the Thameslink project existed!

I know how you feel, some of our Metrolink expansion lines that will now all be completed by 2016 were originally called Metrolink 2000 and expected to be complete between 2000-2002 as well

Funny' I was reading something printed in 2010 stating the "Thameslink 2000 Project" so not quite dead yet (likely to be a legal thing as some stuff was ok under that name).

International Junction on the St Pancras side and for the life of me I can't remember what the ECML name is.

According to my new Track atlas the other end is now named Copenhagen Junction. I think it was previously Freight Terminal Junction, but dont have the map handy at work!

There's two junctions on the link, one linking into SPILL station at the north end, the other onto the ECML.

Which LBC have been putting in and out of order . Up until last week it was completely liftless/devoid of technology.

abit of work went on over the easter holidays;

@ luton two bridges were replaced, and the up slow line has been slewed.
The north end loop no longer exist's, as well as the old paper dock has been disconected and removed.

@ farringdon the signalling has changed hands, all southbound signals are now under the control of victoria, and northbound is still west hampstead, also a tower block has been demolished.

Pardon for asking but was the north end loop at Luton used to stable terminators before they went back into service if so what happens now to the terminators?

Might seem daft but I don't travel often on the TL route.

Now they are running empties to bedford, straight turn round and back to luton, als some are shunting across leagrave junction.

Ah, I see thanks for explaining that. There wouldn't be any plans to reinstall the loop at a later date would there or would they permanently be heading to Bedford to turnround?

Not sure if the loop will be reinstated as the platforms are being extended north to accomodate 12 cars.

I would imagion there will be new workings at the timetable change.

I've also noticed on the stretch between Luton and Luton Airport Parkway (behind Power Court) there have been trees removed.

Have any buildings been removed too? I find it hard to tell, as I'm usually on the train and only noticed recently while going down Church Street.
