According to Wikipedia, it is stored. Anyone know why a random member of the 317 6 fleet is out of action?

Nevermind, just seen it had a trial for seating layouts and was withdrawn

I think that was 317722 which hasn't been used for ages. 317669 (and 317663 which has apparently also gone) have standard 317/6 interiors.

317/6 are apparently longest since last overhaul - 379s can displace them as 745s are introduced on Stansted services.

Looking at the franchise agreement it was always envisaged that 317/6s would be the first 317s to go.

https://assets.publishing.service.g...6293/east-anglia-2016-franchise-agreement.pdf

Page 177 for the off-lease dates - although they will have been extended as a result of late delivery of the new fleets.

As to the question about why a random member of the fleet is stored first, no fleet gets withdrawn for scrap in numerical order as the ones in worst condition go first.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
Am I right in thinking that as there are 24 of the /6 fleet, were those the second batch that were built in 1985?

I am aware that the first 48 were built in 1981 which were originally for the London St Pancras - Bedford route when it was recently electrified at that time.

Yes those numbered 3176xx were originally the 317/2 batch ordered for the GN. The renumbering happened when they were refurbished by WAGN in the late 90s.
