That'll be it. They're also responsible for the failure of the harvest, and for cows to stop giving milk.
So having seats without windows is a gesture to protect these poor wimps from seeing the world as it is.

Isn’t the Joint Line Peterborough - Spalding - Lincoln - Doncaster supposed to be the diversionary route ?

Sounds like it's round 2 & North of York's turn for chaos today. Signalling problems the reason. Passengers on the down Highland Chieftan are being treated to a long & arduous detour via the Durham Coast.

Oh looks like the 12:00 ex-Kings Cross is now going booked route & only around half hour late currently.

Yep, but not electrified so only diesels/bi-modes can go that way. Not all crews sign it either, think it's only some Leeds/Doncaster/Kings Cross crews that sign it, and Newcastle crews don't. Happy to be corrected regarding crew route knowledge.

Surprised that Newcastle wouldn't sign it. LNER seem to have the most in depth route card of any operators including routes only used for diversionary purposes.
