The latest 180 to join the GC fleet,180114,made a test run from heaton to york and return yesterday(saturday) and if no problems encountered then it could possibly make its passenger debut at some point this week !;)

I'm on 114 at present on the 06:41 off Sunderland. Would this be its first time out in passenger service with GC? If so, I suppose it sort of makes up for not getting a HST.

Internally, it appears to be pure FGW, the only difference being the lap top sockets and Marilyn smiling down on me.......!

Perhaps other companies would be interesting in the free advertising clearly on offer at railuk ;)

[to provide some context, this post was made referring to a number of removed posts about a Gen group]

Don't know what you think, but the Really Useful Group (theatre) do really good front-row seats for spotting and photting - definite win!

Anyone got the gen on why 43123+43080 were at Neville Hill earlier? Heard they were off to Loughborough again, but the question still remains as to why they're going back there?

Any chance of HSTs on the Bradfords? Even if not planned, the 180s are not exactly reliable so a swap is bound to be made at some point?

well if you think about it, they have tonnes of spare engines available after everything else was mtu'd, there'll be over 100 spare engines somewhere...

Who is the 'they' you are referring to? These power units will still have to be bought/acquired by Sovereign though - they wouldn't have belonged to Sovereign/GC, given that they came out of Angel & Porterbrook owned power cars.

i do know that, but still both angel trains and porterbrook will have numerous spare engine etc available for purchase by sovereign trains...

This may be explained by the comments on a gen group that Angel have bought (or are in the process of buying) the Grand Central HSTs which I've just read. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Quite a lot of the Valentas would have been scrapped after they were removed

great, ok, so what are there actually very limited numbers left?

The 125Group have some and I believe there is the odd couple at some places (Don't think there is anymore at BRUSH, maybe the ones out of the NMT PCs which could've moved to Neville Hill to be fitted in GCs PCs.).
