Group Bourdon Test

Hi, I’m new to this forum and have a question.

I went to my first assessment today and did the Group Bourdon test. I found it easy enough but the eyes were going wonky at the end lol! Just wondered, is there any room for error on that test or have you got to get 100%?
Any advice would be appreciated.

It is one of those things that nobody knows what the pass level is. I think the key is to not go too fast (but not too slow) and eliminate errors. Many people seem to say that 8 lines without errors has gotten them through.

I have an assessment day coming up I am starting now to go too fast through confidence and doing 14 to 15 lines but a few omissions are starting to creep in. I'm trying to slow down and do 13 lines with zero errors. Fingers crossed for you. Who was your assessment with and for what role?

That’s not bad going at all! Though my partner did the same thing a few months back and he didn’t make it. Although speed is an important factor I think accuracy is just as important if not more so. I think you’d still get through doing fewer lines but with them being accurate. Good luck though - fingers crossed for you too!
I went for the initial assessment for Trainee Train Driver for Arriva.

Accuracy is as important as speed definitely. I’m not sure how many lines there are, but I did about half in each box and passed to enhanced standard. I’m satisfied what I completed was all correct though.

Yeah there is 16 lines , I found this to be one of the easiest tests if you practise with the material on here then you should pass

Likewise. Out of all the assessments I found this by far the easiest and more straightforward.

Forgot they actually did that. I guess it’s because they run the assessments rather than contract it out to OPC.

I made two mistakes on the final block of dots, I rectified my mistake and carried on and passed to enhanced standard.
