Nottingham - London RTN 18/2/10

Hi and sorry for the late(ish) notice, but would anyone know any cheapish ways to get from Nottingham to London on Thursday 18th Ferbruary arriving before 11.30 and leaving the same day, arriving back before 20.30. I know that both ways are probably going to be in peak time though

At the moment, a basic Advance "return" is £20.00 to STP, arriving at either 10:00 or 11:18, and the return leg is showing £26.00 on the 18:30. I may be wrong, but splitting the ticket at an intermediate point somewhere doesn't seem to have much effect, although (subject to peak restrictions) doing so at Bedford seems to leave an off-peak return of barely £1 more.

Oh crap! Forgot to say the tickets are for 1 adult and 1 child with a family railcard. Really need to sleep

www.eastcoast.co.uk is showing Advance tickets for £17 arriving at 10.00 and for £22.10 returning at 20.28. That's £39.10 all in - you probably can't get a huge amount better than that. For £5.10 extra you can get a slightly later train in the morning (arriving 10.19).

Although I usually find East Coast to have a better website for booking online, in this case use EMT website because they give a £1 discount on all EMT AP tickets booked online via their website. It only saves a bit I know.

you may find a one day travelcard from Grantham to be better if you want to travel around London and have flexibility.
