What depot are you at again? Even so all drivers have breaks along the route so will bound to be somewhere!
Little update!
I swapped to a Cambridge Driving Instructor last week and so far overall have done just over 130 hours.
This will help with the route knowledge from Stansted Mountfitchet to Cambridge as being a Bishops Stortford driver you rarely get to go to Cambridge, likewise being a Cambridge driver you rarely go to Stratford but I have done a fair amount of that being at Stortford for my first 120ish hours so I guess it’s a plus!
Really enjoying it still and again will urge anyone reading if you are thinking of applying to just go for it, and don’t give up.

Been successful for WMT at DMI and now booked in for a medical, so looking really positive for a start date after medical...fingers crossed.
Also have been shortlisted for EMT and in the process for GA and in the freightliner talent pool...surely it’s got to happen lol.
Really want this career and I think you need as many applications live as possible.
Looks like you’re in a great position there mate. Looking like Abellio then?
Once you’re at the medical that’s pretty much it usually!
Best of luck mate I agree just keep throwing your hat in until it gets picked.

Question for you:-
Are you tested in stages about sections of the rule book or is it just read and remember?
Is the rule book just Rules and Regs only or does it show you information in relation to train operation(driving)
Yes you are taught/tested about different rules and situations/workings on the railway in sections. Usually each section there is a module from the rule book for reference.
One thing I found out early on was don’t assume that everything you learn is the classroom is all you need to know, you are expected to read through the modules in the rule book at home after learning in the class to get all of the information available.
There isn’t much in the rule book regarding actually driving the train, it does however show signage and railway track diagrams for things like speed restrictions and engineering possessions.

I am currently on 180 hours which have been ‘frozen’ whilst I wait for a manager to become available to do my 150-180 ride out.
I have today just had my ‘sim’ session on rules which wasn’t a full on simulator run as they weren’t available, but rather scenarios with verbal questions, a few drawings and a PTS exam. All passed thankfully.
I did however have a little 10 minute go on the sim for the new Stadler units and wow they look good.
I should hopefully have my 180 ride out next week and fingers crossed be done by the end of August. Getting closer!

Nice! It will go quick as long as there’s not too many slow weeks, annual leave etc.
