A few weeks ago a member posted information on ScotRails plans on running spare HST sets to Fort William to cover for the lack of Baggage Van 153s. Would they be kind enough to repost the information here as the mods seen fit to delete your post.

The NMT went to Oban (just the once on 30th May 2014), not Fort William. As for ScotRail HSTs running to Fort William, this is a bit of wishful thinking from the local MSP which has somehow been trans substantiated into a hard forum fact.

I doubt this will go through to work in any case.

True, but you never know. Those oft-suggested HST charter/railtour operators may yet (maybe) come to fruition ;)

(I doubt it tbh)

I still think this was a reasonable suggestion for a new HST service, it had merit if not practicality.

Who knows but I would like LSL at Crewe to get a full HST set for railtours/charters.

Locomotive Support Limited. I think its also part to do with Sapphos railtours.
Locomotive Services Ltd, to be pedantic! It’s part of the Hosking group along with Saphos, LNWR Heritage, the Royal Scot Locomotive and General Trust and Icons of Steam.

They have already agreed to buy an HST set when it goes out of service so fingers crossed?

Certainly not a steady service with HST’s but it’s a significant year for the West Highland Line so who knows what might show up.

Why not just have something like local haul with a DBSO mk2 set

It would make far too much sense plus leave some forum members suffering for cardiac incidents, besides your not going to get a better environment than the refurb MK3.

Exactly and the whole point of such a service is to encourage tourists.
