Freedom Travelpass and Pilning

Hi, I'm royally stumped on the validity of this. The Freedom Travelpass (A+C) map shows it to be valid on the line to Pilning but no further. GWR twitter are saying I'd need a Patchway to Pilning ticket to cover the necessary overshoot into Newport/Severn Tunnel Junction. Travel is planned for tomorrow (a Saturday), starting from Temple Meads.

Is this additional ticket required?

I appreciate that this is a very niche query! Many thanks.
