Another burnt HST tonight, Tue 29th?

Surprised there's no news on here yet. I was on the 18.30 EMT x St.P which got scrubbed as an empty in-bound HST caught fire. Delays of around 2 hours for the ride to Bedford.
Anyone know the details of the HST?

hope they get things sorted ready for my journey on new years day - i've got it booked in for some HST (or as I prefer to call it 125) action. Couple of weeks ago I was on one of the facelifted sets and it was excellent.

That's odd... I've always assumed that the domestic and international sides of STP were supplied separately, is that not the case?

The International side was normal until 1925 then nothing until 2012 when 9O51 1813 from Paris arrived after being held at Stratford from 1929 until 2003.

Not sure where the feeds come from for the various sections, but when you take a blanket isolation in an emergency the whole area goes off.

Thats interesting, thanks. Being stuck at St. P and told that the incident was just outside the station I was wondering whether to use the tube to WHT or Kentish to get a FCC but no one knew where the south bounds were stopped or whether they were being turned round. Sounded like there was no immediate service rescue package.

Dont they usualy just turn trains at West Hampstead during disruption at St.Pancras with passengers finding there own way via FCC/LUL?

They normally turn trains at kentish town, but this was not possible due to the isolation, the nearest neutral section to st pancras is graham park (half way between mill hill and hendon), so when the power went off nothing south of graham park was moving, west hampstead box were just stoping trains in platforms (including me with a nice 50 minute wait).

The stricken hst was stopped at the signal just under the nll, this is probley why the juice went off and affected eurostars on the international side, as there is no physical elecrtical connection in the overheads between the mml and eurostar, but there is between the nll and eurostar.

The said stricken hst was finally moved back to the first unelectrified lines which are the hendon lines behind cricklwood station, this is where i passed it heading south, it had been moved back to cricklewood by the time i came north again.

Another question if I may...As i was already sat on a warm 18.30 EMT when everything went pear shaped, why did they turf everyone off to a freezing station when there was really nowhere to go but wait for a resumption of service? OK, some going a distance could find an alternative provider but Luton, Bedford, Wellingborough, Kettering was wait or nowt.

Just so you know, it was powercar 43045 that caught fire in the Camden Road Tunnel area. After examination it seems as though there was a problem with the exhaust.

The set for the 1830 Lincoln service was orignally going to be used to take the station fitter to Cricklewood depot (As this was quicker then a taxi) as this was were the HST was going to be moved to when the fire had been put out and the fire brigade had deemed it ok to be moved to the depot for further inspection.

We were told around 1900hrs that it could be moved but then the fire brigade changed their minds as they wanted their 'Control Vehicle' on site first. It was another hour before the set could be moved to the depot.

That was the info I got from our log today. More info when known.

West Hampstead will be used later this year to turn trains around when some new point work is installed as part of the TLP.
