Okay...sneaking one in ;)

Hopefully won't be beaten to posting.

We are off upon our bikes
To the other side of Offa's Dyke
A rural setting in which we find
The next station to tax your mind.

This is starting to feel more like Cryptic Clues to Guess the station's name, rather than five (relatively straightforward) clues about the station.

Okay, playing by the rules:

1) The station is in the south of England
2) Passenger numbers are roughly 200,000 per year.

Not Worplesdon either.

3) The current station is near where a former junction once converged, and there is still evidence of this branch line to this day.

Further to the north-west (it's not near London/South Coast)

4) It has many services stopping there, but only one TOC

One more clue then...

5) The Rail Users Group for this station might be fans of a lollipop-sucking detective...

Sorry, I have recently reduced my contribution level on the Quizzes and Games forum to just eight of the threads. I think that I have only made eight postings on this particular thread since it was launched many moons ago.

No probs, just that it seems to have gone a bit quiet... perhaps my station was too difficult to guess?

You're not 100 miles out with that one!

The station in question also has an Ampersand in its name.
