Was looking at connections between Prague and Budapest and was wondering if there is a daily service between these cities? And also if there is a sleeper service how much for a 4/6 bed couchette with an interrail pass? Cheers

Seat61 says it all. Just to add: sleeper leaves Prague at 2156 and arrives Budapest 0835, very civilised with a long wait at Breclav in the middle of the night. Most of the year the sleeper and couchette cars are doubled up.

There are 2-hourly EC trains from Prague to Budapest, via Brno, Břeclav and Bratislava (0750, 0950 etc), taking 6.5 hours.
They alternate with the Prague-Vienna-Graz Railjet service in the other hours as far as Břeclav.
The route is quite interesting and the trains are a mix of stock and locos, with a good restaurant car.
This site has the normal train composition: https://www.vagonweb.cz/razeni/ and also shows the sleeper times.
In Budapest, the day trains use Nyugati station (the "proper" terminus for the route), while the sleeper still uses Keleti and circles Budapest to get there.
Booking via the ČD site is quite easy and reliable: https://www.cd.cz/en/
Coming the other way the MAV-START site is less user friendly but works if you are patient. https://www.mavcsoport.hu/en

And whatever you do, book via the CD website as they can access fares that aren't available on DB etc. called "First Minute Europe". I did Brno - Budapest for around 11 euros last year.

And again DB canNOt even sell that last leg, as its wholle out of DE. As a leading principle, just like when you think about what postage stamps to use )assuming you still know how that worked) the ORIGinating country for your trip is the one the use for online bookings.

Thanks for all the help guys, will be using an InterRail pass so I am assuming I will be able to book through their reservation service anyways.

That's an horrendously expensive way of doing reservations. I'd be surprised if Ceske Drahy themselves wouldn't do you a reservation online.

If you're using the Interrail app mind that, for some reason, it's not showing the vast majority of trains in Hungary, and the team don't seem to be particularly bothered about fixing it.

Oh I might have misunderstood the system. I read online that it was €10 for a bed in a 6 berth couchette from the man in seat 61s website, sorry haven’t used interrail before so not sure where to book.

And then Interrail's own silly booking fee will almost double that cost.

It's probably €10 with Ceske Drahy, but no fee.

With CD you do it by going to buy a ticket then selecting 'I only want a seat/reservation' or similar button. Let me know if you have any issues.
