Its almost 10 years since ATOC's rail reopening report which proposed 14 lines and 40 stations for reopening. I cant find the original report now but I dont think a single one of those has progressed very far. A classic space filler story which paints DfT in a good light when there is no-one around to rip it apart.
Not entirely true.
Two station re-openings proposed in the ATOC report (2009) have been implemented: Ilkeston and Kenilworth.
There are active proposals for the following line re-openings: Ashington, Portishead, Skelmersdale and Wisbech.
