Bit of a weird one...

RailUKForums found my Twitter (fair enough - it's not too dissimilar to my name on here) and followed me - that's fine.

But ever since, I've had multiple reincarnations of the all too famous 'Reece' message me.

Just curious, but has anyone else had this? Mods feel free to delete if not appropriate or if it gets heated...

A trainspotter who pounds and pounds people for unit numbers on Twitter and tends to message anyone who tweets a TOC. His famous catchphrase is 'Dont call the police'
He sounds vaguely familiar, was he the one who would message various TOC's asking for a specific TOC's allocations?
So for example he would message SouthEastern asking for Northern's unit numbers and would kick off when they said no.

Reece is easy to spot; just press 'mute' and he won't even know you can't see his messages!

I can't see them; did he send them as Direct Messages (DMs)? If so make it so only people you follow can DM you?

The guy is harmless and probably has a learning disability or some autism spectrum disorder. He finishes tweets with “don’t call police”. Just ignore and mute.

I think I'm glad I don't use Twitter. I still get some fairly naff comments, but given that I tend not to engage or provide blunt responses I'm not bothered on other social media.

That's one of his accounts, but once most TOCs mute/block him he gets another.

I recommend muting as then he won't realise.

There is nothing that can be done to stop the requests however they are easily spotted and pressing mute takes s secobd and resolved the issue until the next account is created.

Don't answer even once as otherwise you will be asked continually.

Hmmm... looks similar in style to, but considerably less imaginative than, a certain other well known online pest from north of the Border!

Reece has had well over 100 Twitter accounts over the past few years. I think most railway enthusiasts and workers who use Twitter have come across him.

Here are just some of his accounts:

This is only a small selection. He has hundreds more as well.

Basically what he does is spend all day asking for unit numbers of Northern Rail trains in the Hartlepool / Middlesbrough / Redcar / Saltburn areas.

He used to be asking Northern Rail all day long for about 40 or 50 unit numbers a day and after they gave him about 10 he would still keep bothering them and asking for more. Eventually they restricted him to 1 unit number a day but he still wouldn't stop bothering them and asking for more all day so they don't give him any these days.

He regularly tweets pretty much every other TOC in the UK asking for them to look up Northern Rail unit numbers. He will also keep bothering random people trying to get them to find out unit numbers for him.

He also sometimes creates multiple accounts pretending to be different people and talks to himself. He also sometimes creates accounts pretending to be his social worker or his mum.

He seems to have a huge obsession with unit numbers. I think he must have autism or some other mental health problem or learning difficulties.

As yorkie said it is probably best to just mute him if he annoys you. Don't block him as all he will do is simply create another account again and again and again. I personally just ignore him. He is certainly an interesting character.

He needs to be served with some sort of digital ASBO. :)

Who on earth creates accounts to talk to themselves? He seriosuly needs to find aome new friends :-/

Why does he pretend to be his social worker or Mum? I think Reece needs to given a good talking to and introduced to some new hobbies other than train numbers. "Stalking" TOCs and other people on Twitter is a bit sad.

I know lots of people like specific trains but I have never understood the obsession some enthusiasts have with Twitter. It is the same old faces tweeting away day after day. A lot of their tweets asking pointless questions about unit numbers and allocations tend to get ignored which they don't take very well.

I wish someone would tell them to stop playing silly games and wasting everyones time. People have places to get to and TOC's have a railway to run, answering the questions of genuine passengers is the sole purpose of TOC twitter accounts. Nonsensical **** from so called enthusiastcs should be banned outright

Is this the same person who was always asking Northern for unit numbers on Facebook?

Yes i believe so. I have seen him ask for unit numbers on Northern Rail's Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, he will pester them for unit numbers on every social media site they use. A friend of mine who works for them tells me that he is always phoning and emailing their customer service as well pestering them for unit numbers.

He really needs someone to help him sort out this obsession. His obsession with unit numbers has gone way too far. He seems to spend all his time contacting whoever he can find and trying to get unit numbers.

Perhaps he needs to get out a bit more and go to railway stations to do some spotting sometimes rather than asking everyone online for unit numbers. I agree he needs some new hobbies as well.
