Do Berlin transport tickets expire?

I visited Berlin this weekend, and I bought a 4-pack of single AB tickets (they're €2.80 each or €9 for 4) and ended up only using 3. Is it worth hanging on to the other for the next time I go, which might be a couple of years away or will it have expired by then?

Incidentally, I had this wonderful view of a U5 depot from my hotel room - the Abacus Hotel Tierpark is highly recommended!

I'm not sure if they expire or not, but you would lose nothing by keeping it and trying it out next time.

The problem is that you would only be trying it out when collared by an inspector and PFed, as the stamping machines don't actually check anything, you can stamp a folded post-it note if you want.

I was assuming the OP would check its validity before date stamping and using.

The BVG website says "buy as many tickets as you want and validate them when you require to" or words to that effect.
Unless Berlin abolished the present ticketing system, you are safe.

Partly OT: Paris had a fare rise a couple of years ago, and they gave warning thst old-price tickets would only be valid for a year. However, Paris uses a magstripe which means they have some way of checking - Berlin doesn't and can't.

Edit: I suppose they could change the ticket colour, and if you spotted that everyone else was validating green tickets while yours was yellow, it might be worth asking at an info point (there are a few).

I've still got some green Paris Metro tickets (mag stripe) from a carnet I bought in the 90s - I think I got them on board Eurostar!
After they go digital (next year?) I think they will be unusable.

I had some journeys left on a T10 ticket in Barcelona. It didn’t work next year: even though the new ticket looked the same I noticed the fare had gone up. Or it might just have degenerated in my sock drawer.

If tickets issued before the fare rise were only valid for a year after the increase took effect, then your tickets might already be worthless. Until now I had always assumed that Paris carnet tickets were (at least in theory) valid indefinitely.

There is a separate thread on Paris Metro/RER tickets at https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/paris-metro-tickets-for-sale-on-e-tgv-and-ave.173246/
