300 service
14265 - 16652 - 16734

I heard 14265 before i saw it in Maryport today... the sound of a roaring 6LXB is about the best noise bar none in the world! 'tis good to see some a Leyland muscling in on the longer-haul jorneys... IMHO they are better all-round than the volvos, albeit a little slower. I bet the R---NBV olly's don't last as long as the Leylands have!

can't beat the sound of a "proper" Leyland (gardner engined ones).
14265 was a favourite on the 554 over Summer. would have been great if i could got to go on it, but never mind, theres still time!

Also the 30 that runs half hourly (when possible) between Workington and Maryport now picks up and drops off in Dearham and Dovenby.

I was sat thinking, this afternoon, and pondered to myself, that when the roads are finally back to normal, if a "Circular" system would work, where a bus goes from Thornhill - Whitehaven - Workington - Cockermouth - Maryport - Workington - Whitehaven - Thornhill, (with a service in the opposite direction also) would be a viable service?? thus erasing the need for the 58 and cockermouth-whitehaven 600?? just a thought, but at the same time not really a bad one.

...and back from pondering! lol

you should suggest that to Stagecoach! email the complaints and suggestions with it. it could certainly remove the need for Cockermouth - Whitehaven 600. the 58 would have to remain, but doesn't have to be with Stagecoach haha.

From iced-over maryport this fine morning:

33167 on Maryport-Workington Shuttle sat at the traffic queue at netherhall traffic lights this morning, about 8:20 ish. the driver didn't look at all amused to be A) in a traffic jam, and B) in a jam, driving a SWB Marshall Dart!!
It is the first time i have personally ever seen a marshall in maryport...

a Marshall on that will have been erm, interesting!
i've had 34079 on the Cockermouth - Workington X5, via Broughton, Camerton and Seaton, which was interesting, but never managed to catch one on any other routes involving speed! might try catch a pic of it if i manage to get to bus station!
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
14257 passed me on the dual carriageway with a pretty dodgey display. i think it was supposed to say SL Ltd Contract.
followed Info bus down the dual carriageway just then, when it was on its way back to Lillyhall.

47616 on 50.
47005 on 51.
33168 and 47060 on Harrington.
20759 on Thornhill - Workington 30.
20195, 33167 and 35247 on Workington - Maryport 30. 33167's display is pretty unreadable.
16653 and 20761 on Workington - Whitehaven 300.
20129 on Tesco Free Bus.
20919 and 34079 were on annexe when i came back home.

20436 has been pulled off service due to a crack in the windscreen. it was apparently on Workington - Maryport 30.

noticed a few more drivers around from other depots.

just been thinking about the timetable for Harrington services at the minute. the timetable says that it is running every 20 minutes, which requires 3 buses, but there is only 2 buses on it, and it takes 30 minutes ish to do the circle, then they're sitting in the bus station for around 10 mins, so a few of the runs end up being missed out.

What's that noise the the Eric Morecambe bus makes when it accelerates, a kind of metallic shrieking? Goes right through my teeth....
Is it supposed to do that??

If it's the noise I'm thinking of, Kendal's Tridents ahve been through a similar phase. Now they just rattle and you can really hear the turbochargers.

Well...the way things are going, they'll probably displace the last few (if any are left in Manchester by then) Trident/ALX400s onto Magic Bus work, releasing Dragons and Olympians...

It's worth noting that the respective Councils are part funding the hybrids, there's a special government pot of money somewhere.

Haven't seen 20451 recently to see the state of it's display, really it should be liste as back in service at Morecambe!

The simple answer is that i don't know, maybe ME are having problems with the suspension and rear axles on their Tridents, like KE did not that long ago!
Hopefully Gez.SCNW or Jonesy3001 will know more!

I was blaming it on Highgate in Kendal, as Princess were also having similar problems with the Primo. But having spent most of the last few days driving on the 8A's & 8C's in Lancaster, i begining to think the pot holes in and around Lancaster Bus Station and City Centre areas, maybe have been to blame, for KE problems.

Generally the state of the roads everywhere is to blame for the suspension problems - however, the worst strech IMHO is the A6070 just before you turn left and go over the motorway into Holme.
It's so bad drivers have resorted to driving on the wrong side of the road.....

Really, it was not suspension problems Kendal were suffering from, but gearbox problems resulting in missing gears.

I really can't believe that the council have let the road round the bus station get so bad - I hope that they sort it properly soon.

Our tridents are ok a couple had new gearboxes fitted when they transferred from princess road but apart from that nothing serious yet.

14235 went up to carlisle today.

saw that arrive at the depot, and park up in front of the paintshops. sign in side window saying "This vehicle is not for service"

14232, 16652 and 16734 on Carlisle to Northside 300. 14232 doesn't have Northside 300 programmed into the display, as the driver found out, so she just put it onto Whitehaven 300.

20944 and 20960 on 600.
24122 on 79.
20979 on 554.
34048 on 66 and 69.
one of the Citi Darts on Brampton 685.
52405 and 52408 on Newcastle 685.

quite a few of the buses going to Morton were pretty full (Citi Darts). at one point, there was 2 pretty full Darts both on 61 to Harraby from Morton at the same time, en route to City Centre. isn't often you get a bus right behind another on the same route in Carlisle!

a 125 / 126 branded Trident in the big shed at Carlisle. i think it was 18153 (PX04 DPK).

47005 on 50.
47060 on 51.
33167 and 33168 on Harrington.
20134 on Workington to Maryport shuttles.
on my way back from Carlisle, we passed a 56 reg Dart, with Private Hire on displays, with a board in the windscreen. not sure what the board had on it.
20737 on Whitehaven to Workington 300.
20919 and 20962 were both flying around.
