Evening all

I’ve just found out that I’ve passed the medical, so I officially start as a Trainee Driver for Northern in 13 days! Anyone else here starting the course in Leeds that week? I’ll be based in Sheffield for my driving when it gets to the practical stage.

Congrats mate, you'll love it.

Just bear in mind you've made yourself identifiable by giving assessments, medical, course dates and location. So don't go saying anything naughty on here violating your new Ts & Cs.

Good luck.

Thank you! And thanks for the advice, though I’d never breach any employers social media policy. My username is also my email anyway so I’m not anonymous. I see it all the time on the Royal Mail employee FB pages, people slagging the company off or posting operations information which is sackable and it makes me wince!

Yes but, you will find the railway industry takes such matters rather more seriously. If you look around this place you will find those members who are obviously rail staff have somewhat anonymised usernames.

Hi NorvernRob,

I'm starting on the same course as you on the 17th and just wondered if you'd had your contract through yet?

Hello mate

I haven’t got my contract yet, but HR have been great to be honest, sorting me a medical and start date all within a couple of weeks.

Hello mate

I haven’t got my contract yet, but my medical results only came back earlier this week and HR have been in touch to say the contract and offer pack are on their way. It’s been very tight time wise to get me on the course, but so many people wait for months that I’m not going to complain! HR have been great to be honest, sorting me a medical and start date all within a couple of weeks.

Yeah I had medical on the 19th Nov then heard the week after saying I'd passed and I would hear again from them shortly when my offer is finalised. I feel sorry for people in pools for months, I know we start in just over a week, but I can't wait!
