Sounds very like the recruitment at exactly the same time last year, split in two. If I had until January I would start by re-reading this entire thread, all 1357 posts, and all the old ones on EMT recruitment. Then I'd read a load more threads on here about the tests and the DMI. Then I'd print off a load of GBT tests (or photocopy them from the "How to become" book) and do several hundred of them. People balk at paying £10 for a "how to become" book, or spending hours doing gbt tests, or getting your family to interview you over and over again, but if ur looking for marginal gains, that extra 1% to put you ahead of the unwashed masses, then that's what needs to be done.

Hi, the tests are all in the booklet EMT emailed to shortlisted candidates - pages 1-40

Basically we’ve got the,

1 - the dots test
2 - dials and cables test
3 - phone book and high/low tone test
4 - speed interview kind of thing (they don’t always do this)

Oh and the listen and read a paragraph of writing, then they ask you to make notes take it all off you and then answer about 18 questions.

Thank you. I’ve been shortlisted for next year. Are those tests standard with EMT or do they differentiate from other TOC’s. Was worried I’d practice the backside out of those tests then come the day they’ve got completely different ones!

The speed interviews are not till the group assessment days which is the next stage.

Also the test materials they send are not car on copies of what you do on the day just similar.

I would go smart, consider you are being assessed on every aspect the second you walk through the door. Smart trousers shirt and tie or a suit

Yes smart. There was a bloke on my stage 1 who was clearly a mechanic, wearing oily rags the lot, he had sloped off from the garage for an hour or two. It may say that it is only OPC staff, but mine was in an emt building and you never know who you might bump into who will remember you at a later stage.

Absolutely not casual. Smart-casual was fine for me...shirt and suit pants, no tie. It’s important you strike a balance between comfort and dressing smartly.

The practice material you would have received covers both Stage 1 & Stage 4 of this process. The pages which talk about the computer tests and multi-modal interview are for Stage 4.

You can expect to be interviewed at Stages 2, 3 (with Driver Managers) and 4 (the OPC) of this process. Good luck.

Thank you. Do you have any advice on what to expect for the train ability for rules and procedures parts 1 and 2 part of the stage one resting as well. Could I say thank you to yourself and others on here your help and advice has been greatly appreciated.

Hi all, just discovered this forum and would just like to say thanks all for all the helpful info. Ive recently passed first phase but was informed by e mail thst due to numbers applying i wouldnt be given dates for phase 2 until 2019.
On Tuesday 20th Nov I then received a further e mail fromn recruitment stating that there was now limited positions open for next week on a first come first served basis. I replied back within 2 hours of e mail, only to be told today ..... too late, spots gone, i will br contacted in due course re. 2019 dates.
I take it this is due to high numbers of applications and demand, and just to be patient and use time wisely for preperation.
