Indeed it is most likely inter TOC twitter bants. GWR's celebrity powercar's coming to the EC would be more likely (and there's more electrified track for the 91 to use!).

No one thought an 87 would run on the GWML...
Besides, tracks'll be electrified in passenger service as far as Bristol Parkway from next year if all goes to plan.

Thanks for the photos, I wasn't sure if the 37 was still in Intercity livery but didn't think it counted anyway due to the personalised changes to it.

The 91 in Intercity looks superb, I don't think I've actually ever seen one in real life but always been one of favourites and was the first model train I bought.

Hold on, are those buffers turned from their normal position? I though the straight bits were usually top and bottom?

The buffers rotate 90 degrees in their retracted position, which is unusual to see as it's only used when the loco is propelling push-pull stock nose first, i.e. back to front. Passenger class 90s also have this feature, where it used to be more commonly visible.

No HST power cars now have the TDM kit to work with a 91, and 43185 never has done.

The "Intercity" name is also as good as it gets for a descriptive name. GWR, Virgin Trains, LNER, Crosscountry could still be used a sub names on the livery.

Intercity would have updated their image had they endured; just look at the Intercity 250 mock-ups. What late-sector era BR, including Intercity, was very good at was tailoring liveries to best suit the stock it was applied to: Applying for a blanket application of Intercity swallow livery, as it was in the late eighties, to modern stock would be to completely miss the point.
