want to go from penyffordd to Liverpool return on Saturday. Tfw website when putting in 2 adults with 2 together card comes out at £16.60, thought that a bit dear, but national rail put it at £11. Which one is correct please. Thanks for any replies.

Seems like a problem with the TfW site not applying the Two Together discount.

If you go back to the TfW site where the £16.60 tickets are shown and click on 'CHANGE JOURNEY', you will probably see that the railcard option isn't checked. Check it and select Two Together and you should see the correctly discounted fares (£11.00).

Is it possibly one of those websites where you have to select the railcard type and then add it, in a sort of two stage process? This has caught people out in the past.

No. It has a "front page" where details, including number of adult/child passengers and railcards can be selected and a button labelled "Get times & tickets". Clicking that button opens a new browser tab/window with the ticket options shown.

The problem appears to be that selection of a Two Together railcard doesn't get passed between the "front page" and the new browser tab/window.

I tried selecting 1 adult and a Senior railcard on the "front page" and that does get passed correctly.

Merseytravel Saveaway All Areas (£5.30)
Total £16.80

may be more desirable if you're planning to use any public transport in Merseyside while there. Three bus trips (in total, not each) or one trip on the ferry, and you'll have made a saving.

The Saveaway will give you unlimited bus, train and ferry travel within Merseyside (and on Merseyrail outside Merseyside).

As you'll be purchasing the Saveaway from a TfW guard, you won't need to buy a £1 Walrus card for it, it'll be a normal paper ticket.

I quoted the correct 2TR fare for Heswall (which incidentally is the same price as the Small Group Day to Neston) where a Saveaway becomes valid, but called it Neston for some reason, edited accordingly.

A Saveaway is now £5.30, not £5.10.

If the people travelling are likely to spend over £2.90 on public transport each while in Liverpool, they'll make a saving with the Heswall ticket and Saveaway.

Seems like a problem with the TfW site not applying the Two Together discount.

That problem now appears to have been sorted, but I've discovered another oddity: if you try to book a Swansea-Tenby Advance using a Pembrokeshire Railcard, the TfW site does apply the Railcard discount, but if you try to book a Machynlleth-Pwllheli Advance using a Cambrian Railcard, the site does not apply the Railcard discount.

TfW appears to have recently introduced a whole new range of Advance fares. I think they were previously only available for a limited number of long-distance journeys.
