IM here, again worklife balance is something to be considered. I have been offered a IM position at Crewe, however due to not being able to start in Nov it will be Feb or May for me.

When I sat my stage two I was the only one for Birmingham IM. The other 4 were all for Crewe. Not heard much talk about Birmingham considering it’s supposed to be a depot short of drivers.

Scottish Disclosure is the new name for CRB check. It’s proof that you have no unspent or serious convictions. They ask you to get a copy on your conditional offer letter, costs £25 and then FL reimburse once your employed.

I’ve had them before (well CRB,) for sports coaching and I’ve paid or the establishment I’ve worked for has paid. As I said they reimburse.

I’m in for either. I applied for Intermodal and don’t recall seeing HH as an option as Eastleigh (which I applied for) has a lot of Intermodal work I guess, being primarily shipping containers? However, when I went for DMI I was told they will likely have a few big HH contracts starting very soon so when asked which I’d prefer, was advised to tick both IM and HH boxes to stand a better chance of getting something.

If I’m honest, IM would be better for me because even though the fully qualified salary is less (about £46k), it’s more structured in terms of rostering which would obviously be better for family life. If offered HH only, I’d obviously accept it though.

I took my DM interview last week, 24 hours later had an e-mail saying that i had been put into the talent pool. At the DM interview they told me if you are put in this pool you will just be waiting for a start date for training. Can any one en-lighten me if this is the case or just a fob off

Is it still done through Disclosure Scotland, or the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service)? Thought Disclosure Scotland disappeared?

It took about two weeks for me to find out that I'd made it through to the pool, however I know guys who found out a day later. The reoccurring connection seems to be those heading for Crewe.

Did they say it would be 2 to 3 weeks at your DMI? I wonder if that’s what they say to all candidates regardless (and just surprise those they get back to within a week or a few days), or if it varies?

It does seem specific. Might be also to do with how many more interviews for specific depots they have too. I was told 2 to 3 weeks and (I think?) it was the same manager who interviewed us? I think it was just one manager doing the interviews that day at least?

I spoke to HR this morning, being in the pool means you will get a job. They just have to figure out course allocation. I think the issue they're having is that they can only place 12 to a course.

That’s good news then. How did you hear you were successful? I assumed it would be email as is the norm these days, but not sure if they’ll phone instead as I think they asked me for a mobile number? (I may be mistaken there....my head was all over the place after the interviews haha).

I received my results for the vienna test and MMI a week later then Freightliner informed me of the candidate pool about a week after that. It all seems to be happening on different timelines for people. Just hold out mate, I'm sure you will hear back soon.

So you didn’t hear about the Vienna tests and MMI on the day you sat them? Was it all via email? I guess it depends on the number of candidates on Igbo they’re able to tell you results on the day of the MMI/computer tests?

I’m prepared for a 3 week wait so have psyched myself for that lol. Just interested if Freightliner use emails to communicate as the OPC do.

Thanks. I’m not worried about hearing anything just yet as they gave a rough timeline. If I don’t hear anything after 3 weeks I’ll give them a call I reckon (if it turns out to be like OPC were with the stage one results....that took a while and a bit of promting).

I think it's all happening on different timelines for everyone, everything happened for me 2 weeks exactly each time. If it's been two weeks since you heard then chase them for the answer, if it hasn't been two weeks then wait it out. I'm sure you will be fine mate.

No the MMi, I felt mine went terribly and it had me stressing thinking I'd failed that part of the assessment until I got the email two weeks later saying that I had passed. I had my DMI the same day as the Vienna test and MMI but felt confident I'd done well in that interview.

I don't think any of the other guys where told either, however it was the last thing I done that day and I was allowed to head home striaghs after. Perhaps I just didn't hang around long enough.
