So why chuck passengers off the train, then?
Because the TMS might not let it move if it detects it is overloaded?
Comparing a Pendolino to a 3+2 commuter EMU is just daft.

It would seem a pendo is more similar to a commuter train than you would like to admit! Dodgy computer running the train, toilets out of use, conductors slinging punters off the train. And they're multiple units.
Totally moving the goalposts to the point being made, time for me to move on from this thread :roll:

Thats a clever TMS, never heard that one before.
Stand on Clapham Jn in the morning rush hour and talk about loadings, the only way we can tell the train is full is when nobody else can physically get on!

They're more comfortable than Voyagers though, but their reliability (as you guys probably know) is pretty awful.
I like the 180s too, although I've only used them a few times. Very nice from a passenger point of view (probably even nicer on the refreshed models).
Reliability is shocking though, but sadly that seems to be common on new trains. It really does prove the 'they don't make them like they used to' saying.

Like..? The only other thing I can think of is 175s & 458s (ironically all 3 built by the same company)

Modern technology should make the modern stuff bullet-proof and ultra-reliable.
Okay, in modern consumer electronics you can find things are poor quality because they're built to a price and often built to last only a limited time, but trains should not be built on that basis. I doubt the cost cutting on certain aspects (or is it just bad design?) sees those savings passed on to reduce the price of the equipment anyway.
Anyway - this is totally off topic now!

So thats *most* new trains is it? Based on that I can counter saying most new trains have an excellent MPC, because of the 350/2s!
