Hi all,

I've seen this job on Network Rail's careers website. I note that it is for full time positions. I'm currently a student, and am looking for part time work in industry to sit alongside my studies of Transport. I wondered if anyone thought it would be worthwhile applying for this position anyway and discussing the reasons for my interests in the role at a later stage in recruitment? Or would I be best to contact their HR department prior to applying?

Should I apply, I note it says you need to complete an external application form. Is this the Employment History Capture Form that is available to download from the application page, or something else?

I’m currently doing this job but not in BHM. My station works on a 15 turn roster that you work through throughout the year so part time work wouldn’t work here! However, I’m unsure what sort of roster BHM is on. May be work contacting HR to see what they advise. Have you considered maybe Virgin on train? They do a lot of weekend only roles.

Have just seen the latest vacancy for band B platform staff at New Street. Does anyone know what the exact role of these staff is? Is it assist, dispatch, etc?
