It actually looks like a train that has had comfort taken into account in the design, which makes a change. Also looks like seat alignment with windows has been optimised as best as possible.I expect everyone's' favourite seats will be the bays in the high floor section above the bogies. I always make a beeline for these in similar trains.

I'll have to wait until I ride one to properly judge but it looks like a real quality product from those images. Considering these were initially viewed as the 'cut price' option, I can see these ending up looking like the premium product compared to the 720s. The Glasgow subway units look quite neat too.

I'm pretty sure there were numerous comments when they were first introduced about Stadler sets with their single door config being the cheap option, this is going back a couple of years now though to when the fleet concept was first announced.
The only thing I don't like about them is the doors opening straight into the saloon. It's a bit commuter train.
Other than that they look fabulous.
I also think the raised seats above the bogies will be favourites. One of the joys of travelling by train is the much better view than you get from the car. The low floor design negates that to a degree.

I so wish Abellio had bid some for the Trent Valley regional service.
As for Hitachi, GWR and the DaFT (and anyone else ordering Class 800 derivatives with the standard interior or anything like it) - you should be embarrassed.

Not a very durable one though. Been told that a superior model will be used after many furious driver complaints.

Yeah, it's the 755, it has the power module (which the 745 doesn't have, as it's electric only

From this image here from Paul Bigland, I have two queries, both regarding the windows shown:
1. Is the nearest window some kind of emergency escape, or does it unlock and slide open for ventilation in the event of AC failure? It does look like a non-standard window with a lock.
2. To the right, on the next window, a panel extends down, covering a fair portion of the glass. If this is external facing PIS, isn't it quite large compared to other trains?

On the 745s this'll be different for that exact reason. What I was told was that it would make it feel more "like a premium intercity train"

That's good to hear. Actually I think for the regional units the door are ok. I assumed they would be the same on the intercirt trains. With longer station stops doors straight into the saloon wouldn't be good.
I suspect it's just be some additional glass partitioning rather than a proper vestibule, but we shall see.

The very similar PKP units use glass partitions with sliding doors on them, I reckon it'll be the same.

AIUI it's an emergency escape which is necessary because there is only one passenger door per side.

These would be perfect for WHL if only they had gangways.
new trains should be like this and it is an absolute DISGRACE that some new trains have been fitted out so poorly

Not surprising. It is a dreadful cup holder (there’s actually two) Won’t last 5 mins. Although there is also a fold down table in the cab to dine on too. The rest of the train, though obviously not so important, is rather impressive from a first viewing. Looking forward to riding them on the GEML on the through Lowestofts in both diesel and electric mode. The drivers cab, compared to the blunt end of a 153, bears no comparison whatsoever. Chalk and Cheese are closer.

I wish this could be our standard local DMU replacement for the whole country, but aren't they having trouble getting these to fit with existing infrastructure?
