Thank you very much John, I am grateful for your help.

That is a pretty impressive saving as against the £98 shown on the Virgin site (£28 out and £70 back) and the £48.60 shown on the National Rail site.

There is something seriously wrong with the Fares system when the cheapest is not shown.

It may be because it shows the Virgin services as they are the fastest. Try specifying "via Northampton" or selecting London Midland only.

Cheers, Chap, that seems to be the solution, which is silly as other (higher) fares show going that way anyway.

No wonder the ordinary punters get confused.

I was almost at the pojnt of saying the travellers would be better off going by car, but £30 probably swings the balance in favour of rail.
