Due to a shortage of units aggravated by PRM Mods, a 150/2 is far from uncommon substituting on the route at the moment

I haven't been on it recently, but I would imagine it'll be well filled but not overcrowded. I have been on the 12:30 one recently which is normally a 3-coach unit and that one has been maybe 3/4 full when I've been on it, but I'd say the latter time is a fair bit busier for travel than 11ish. Seat reservations are available for this train.

The 175/0's and 175/1's are diagrammed seperately, so on a perfect day certain services are meant to be 2 car and others meant to be 3 car, it's not done randomly. The 1131 is booked for a 2 car. It's normally quite busy and a seat recommendation is recommended. They are almost always displayed the train as planned so long as the train itself is compatible (158s and 175s are interchangeable in terms of seat reservations as seat numbers have been matched up - but this is not the case on 150s). Bear in mind though that you will need to obtain a seat reservation from a station - tickets booked online only normally come with starred out reservations that don't actually reserve a seat.

Anyone know what the 06:30 Piccadilly to Milford Haven is booked to be on Saturday? I'm travelling the full 6 and a half hours on it and would hate for it to be a 150. I could definitely deal with a 158 though.

It's booked to be a 158 but much of the time a 150 substitutes

I didn't know ATW did seat reservations on their 158s, but somehow I've got one.

As I pointed out above, seat reservations are interchangeable between 158s and 175s, although there are plenty of services booked for 158s that are reservable (most services to and from Birmingham for example). However, if a 150 turns up and there are no seat reservations you're still virtually guaranteed your choice of seat, that service is normally very quiet from Manchester.

I guess you are travelling on open tickets, as IIRC ATW don't give out seat reservations for advance tickets (you get a counted place reservation)
A trick to remember with the ATW 158s is there is a small area of unreserved seats at one end of the unit.
(I can't quite remember if it's the normal toilet or the disabled toilet half)

Travelling on a 4-in-8 Day Wales Pass, I just asked on Twitter as I imagined it would get busy around Cardiff and Swansea what with it being the Bank Holiday Weekend
