Just noticed that Ian Yeowart is no longer at Alliance Rail. Bit of research shows that he is MD of Grand Union Rail - a new OA operator.

Apologies - should refer to Grand Union Trains (not Railways).
Both he is the current sole director of Grand Union Trains incorporated 11 June 2018 and Grand Union Railways incorporated 7June 2018

Wonder what he'll plan next? He's always had innovative ideas.
What about Alliance now? Stick as they are or develop new routes too? (And buy out Grand Union Trains in a few years!)

Given Yeowart’s history, coming up with open access bids that have a lot spent on putting them together and then fail to get taken forward.

Some years ago - probably around the time that Grand Central was getting itself started - there was a report that First had given one of its managers the job of looking at the rail network to identify possible Open Access opportunities. Perhaps the First proposal to run trains on the East Coast was one of them, which maybe they wouldn't have put forward if they'd won the franchise. There's been no great rush of proposals from anyone, which may be because there are very few possibilities that would actually make any money.

Perhaps he could raise private funds for fantasy reopenings or even brand new missing links that the Victorians didn’t ever provide?He could just read the “My idea for...” threads on here.
