Very useful information. Thank you for highlighting this.

Makes you wonder why they would go the the effort and cost of testing external applicatants when there is such a slim chance of one being selected, even if they are the most suited individual for the role.

They won't until they have dealt with the Internals. If they do not get enough applications Internally to account for natural wastage in the testing process they will start to process the Externals, then pool them in that order.

Just completed the alphanumeric matching test online, was a bit unprepared for the lack of practice questions but did it in 3 minutes 29 seconds, no clue if that's good or terrible! I guess it depends how many I got wrong!

Just completed mine... took about 4 minutes. The fact the timer flashes red when you have less than 2 mins left is a bit distracting!

I did the first online test this morning straight after my application but I never got another one after I’m an external candidate so I gather that means I never passed the first online test??

Do you mean you did the one where you had to choose most and least for a load of questions?

Yeah that’s the one I had to do, then the email stated if I passed that I would then get another test which would follow shortly after but it hasn’t yet. I thought it might have been because it’s the weekend but you seem to have done it so it must be curtains for me then haha

Oh right.. yeah my email came about 20 minutes later but I wouldn’t give up hope until you actually hear you didn’t pass it, could be all sorts of reasons for delays.

I wouldn't like to say... I got mine almost straight after the first, but that doesn't mean it's the same for everyone. Worth checking your junk mail folder if you haven't already

Glasgow drivers (actually freightliner drivers) currently only go to Carlisle.
there isn't actually a glasgow depot isn't yet.
Suprised they are looking for trainees in glasgow with the amount of qualified drivers that applied for the positions not to mention the current freightliner drivers wanting the job.

Freightliner drivers are saying they have heard about 13 drivers for Edinburgh because of craigintinny and Edinburgh to Newcastle route

There was talk of Edinburgh being the location in the early days of planning a Scottish depot but the depot will be in Glasgow where it already exists on paper. Edinburgh is not listed in the depot plans (I've seen the list). The Scottish depot should gain a share of the ECML work alongside Newcastle but not working from Edinburgh.

NOTE FOR ALL. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE ORDER OF USE FOR FIRST GROUP TALENT POOLS:

1)Internal (ie, in this case current Trans Pennine Express Staff)
2) First Group Rail Internals (In this case, SWR or GWR Current employees, no order differential for either, both in same pool)
3) First UK Bus Internals (described by HR as being as good as External)
4) Externals

The highest placed in each category will be entered directly below the lowest in the one above. If pool is filled by TPE Internals then the jobs will go nowhere else. Rumoured to be only 10 vacancies across all 6depots combined.

That’ll be news to the TPE DMs

Nothing yet, but if I remember correctly the original closing date was the 3rd September, so not expecting anything until after Monday regardless. In my book, no news is good news

Forgot I’d even applied for this..! Just got an email saying they’ve had to put the roles on hold for a short while and will be in touch at the end of November.

Just had the same email. At least they have taken the time to update us which is more than can be said for some other TOCs!
