The Fife coach services are quite quick from Dunfirmline to Glasgow . I always thought they could been brought into the citylink network.
As far as I can remember, the Glasgow - Fife daytime service was never CityLink - the X26 was always a Fife Scottish route - but bits of the current Stagecoach network were previously Citylink - e.g. the X59 (Edinburgh - St Andrews) is the successor to the CityLink 959, the X76 (Kilmarnock) and X77 (Ayr) are successors to the CityLink service from Ayrshire to Glasgow (and Edinburgh) - the 501 (in the days when the 500 was Edinburgh - Glasgow - Gourock).
Stagecoach seem to be slowly replacing CityLink services elsewhere (e.g. the X56 from Edinburgh to Perth allowing the CityLink services to be sped up on the M90 corridor, no CityLink to Thurso) - I don't know if there's some long term plan to scale back the CityLink brand?

We used to have a reasonable network of "coach" services around Sheffield (X10/X11/X12 to Chesterfield, X18/X23 to Stoke/ Newcastle, X31/X32 to Leeds, X33/X34 to Bradford, X38/X39/X68 to Huddersfield/ Halifax, X48/49 to Manchester/Airport, X85 to Worksop, plus the X36 from Barnsley to Rotherham, the X19 from Barnsley to Doncaster though some of these services were more 'buses with coach seats" than actual coaches - the X31-X36 branded as White Rose Express).
Around the millennium, Stagecoach had a go at a network around these parts:
727 - Sheffield - Meadowhall - Worksop
737 - Nottingham - Mansfield - slow to Chesterfield
747 - Nottingham - Mansfield - Chesterfield - Sheffield - Meadowhall
757 - Nottingham - Mansfield - Doncaster
909 - Sheffield - Meadowhall - Doncaster - Hull/ Grimsby (artic operated, GNER tickets accepted)
The Nottingham - Mansfield - Chesterfield service is now the "Pronto" route shared with TrentBarton (sorry, not actually shared, just two parallel services that are coincidently co-ordinated, in case the competition authorities are reading...).
The "express" service from Chesterfield - Sheffield is now the the X17 which was recently extended to become Matlock -Chesterfield - Sheffield - Meadowhall - Barnsley.
There's also the X19/X20 from Barnsley to Doncaster and the X10 from Barnsley to Leeds (all run by Stagecoach) - I don't know if that's enough to make it a "network" but things are looking better in that respect than they have for a while.
