Well, rarely do you get a rateable bus on a replacement service!! Usually its ex-school coach piffle with holes in seats etc etc! Rancid - and I do like buses in general!

You've been going on the wrong buses. And last time I checked; it's trains that get p*ssed on/in, not buses. Our 314s have no loo and when they're run on the Gourock/Wemyss Bay runs late in the evenings that's just asking for trouble... because people around here will just stand there and take a p*ss if they need it. One group of lads once tried to get into the driver's cab because they thought it was the loo, and when I told them there wasn't one, they were deeply shocked.

There's no need to visit Dudley Zoo to see wildlife in the West Midlands, just hop onto a National Express West Midlands bus!

I used to find myself getting really stressed and angry travelling on WM buses during peak hours and it came to a peak when I confronted a noisy kid listening to loud music on his mobile (no headphones). Suffice to say I decided to change two buses for two trains and my stress/anger levels went right down as did the possibility of me kicking the crap out of some cheeky **** as well

Fortunately my location in the City Centre means I rarely have to take a bus. I'm considering bringing my bike up and taking the train/cycling rather than endure another crime ridden bus. In the past year probably been on about 20 buses in Birmingham, I'd say about 17 have had some sort of crime or antisocial behavour on them.

Lol, wow. You guys really have it in for buses but then again after what has been said I can't blame you!

I've even been on London buses and thought they were superb!

It depends on where the bus is

if your on a bus in a deprived low economic area such as say inner city Liverpool or Manchester they you experience will be horrible with smelly old buss es and unruly passengers.

but if your on a bus in a rural area say the lake district of the scottish cairngorms they it will be a pleasant ride

Those videos people keep posting everywhere, one of them is about Michael Jackson, another features a ship in a tsunami, and I bet there are more, where you expect to see something interesting, and all you get is some weird character screaming at you.
childish.

The prospect of having to work 'til I'm 66 just so that Slippery Dave can get his full inheritance. <(

People who are going to blame the Tories for all the cuts and changes they are forced to make to save our country from the awful mess that Blair and Brown dumped us in.

Something that is really starting to irritate me is the 'war' in Afghanistan.

Just how many UK citizens have the Taliban / Alqaeda killed? And how many people have died as a consequence drug misuse which is a result of what's growing in the fields of Afghanistan?

I think we could be barking up the wrong tree if the aim is to make the UK a safer place....time to get the napalm out?

That wasn't the point of my post - OK the terrorists have killed too many but does anyone think the current military action is going neutralise that threat?

The point of my post was that what's growing in the fields is probably doing more damage to society than the actions of a few terrorists; why not tackle that problem while were on the ground there?

Unfortunately mate, the terrain isn't suitable for tanks. I'd agree with you in that we need more armoured vehicles to replace the Vikings which aren't suitable for Afghanistan anyway, talk about fighting a war on the cheap!

Also, destroying poppy fields would **** off the farmers who rely on them for their livelihoods, and make them more sympathetic to the Taliban. The sale of opium is what bankrolls the Taliban, which one might say is hypocritical given that the Koran specifically forbids Muslims from producing or consuming intoxicating substances. A Taliban spokesman did however say that producing opium is allowed since only infidels in the West smoke it and not Afghans<(. What's needed is a way of regulating the production and sale of opium that gives farmers a livelihood and doesn't benefit the Taliban

Yes very true as you say the farmers need a sustainable form of agriculture (of a non narcotic crop) and the Taliban drug barrens need to be removed as its through fear of them that the afghan farmers continue to grown poppy which the revenue is used to fund the Taliban militias

That makes me chuckle - so does that mean the UK is offically at war with Afghanistan, à la 1939 with Germany? Best watch out for doodlebugs, rationing and Vera Lyn!:lol:
