National level TOCs (Trainee Train Driver)

Hi guys,

Does any body know a list of TOC’s that only require national level test and not enhanced.


I done my test on the 1st of August and was unsuccessful with Arriva rail. I spoke to becky simmonds at HR and she wasn’t 100% on my test results and told me to call the company that organised the test.

So I passed everything at enhanced level apart from the group bourden which I passed at national level.

This means I have 1 strike for enhanced but not national level TOCs

From what I gather I can still apply for other TOC’s in the mean time that don’t require you to pass at enhanced level but have to wait 6 months for to do a enhanced level test again.

So basically I passed at national level and can apply still I think.

Has anybody had a similar experience and can give advice.

If you see a role you’re interested in then look for a discuss thread on this board. Even if it’s a few years old it will usually tell you whether or not they are enhanced.

Yes you have passed the required level.If I was you I would now apply for vacancies.Not all companies require enhanced pass it’s just a way to get the numbers down.My advice is to apply for any suitable vacancy now remember a pass is a pass.

Super frustrating it was the dot test I only got the national pass. Was the first test of the day and for some reason I was nervous
